Douglas F. Reeve
I was introduced to Dr. Tukum many years ago by my father while attending a weekend Rotary ‘tree planting’ gathering at his country home on the outskirts of KW. I fondly recall a unique connection with Dr.Tukums as he personally guided me through his home and property sharing his story of how he had built and created such a magical place …. I was inspired and in absolute awe.

I was so very sad to hear about Ziggy’s passing. We became friends in spin class at Movati and I sat in front of him for the past 8 years. He was such a kind, hilarious and genuine person. He called me “Mother of Mother’s” and always yelled it when I walked into class. I loved it! He was one in a million and I’ll certainly never forget him. Wishing him a Happy Heavenly Birthday today!

I am so sorry for your family’s loss. Zig was my neighbour for the past 5-6 years. He was delightful, always happy and positive and so very interesting. I enjoyed talking to him on many occasions. I love the picture you chose of him. It shows Zig as I will remember him....with happiness and a smile on his face.

We knew Zig for only a handful of months as his neighbours and within that short time, we already knew he was a great man. Very warm personality and a great guy to have a conversation with whenever we crossed paths outside or said hi from the deck. We will miss him. Our condolences to his entire family.

Always enjoyed going to Zig. Such an interesting man. He was a very gentle dentist and reminded me of the dentist I had as a child who had an office done in pine with pine furniture like Zig's office in St. Agatha. Just like my childhood dentist, I never experienced any pain when Zig was working on my teeth. His carvings were amazing and I so enjoyed looking out the window at them while Zig talked and attended to my dental care. My sympathy to his family. Rest in peace, Zig.

When I was a teenager, my girlfriend and I were stuck in the snowbank out front of Ziggy's house. He came out to help us and insisted that we go inside to stay warm while he dug us out with his tractor. Ziggy was a very kind and thoughtful man. My sympathies to his family and friends

I remember when my friends hated going to their dentist and I could never figure out why. I know now.... they never went to Ziggy. Ziggy was both gentle and caring.
He loved nature. Always looking out the back office window to see new visiting animals or maybe deciding what he was going to carve next.
My favourite carving was the 3D faces of John and Kai.
He was a very talented man.
Rest in peace Ziggy.

I will always have fond memories of Ziggy. What a gentle dentist. I also babysat the boys when they were little. Zig built the grounds as an adventure playground for his boys. John and Kai were easily the sweetest boys I ever babysat and that would be a testament to what loving parents Zig and Marg are. My deepest condolences to all who were fortunate enough to have known Zig.

Ziggy was my first and favourite dentist of all times.
I loved going to his office and taking in all his amazing artwork, totem poles etc. He was always a pleasure and made what would seem a dreadful experience for a child.. an absolute adventure.
My deepest condolences.

We are so sorry to hear that Grandpa Zig has passed away... his joyful grin and exuberance at all the birthdays will truly be missed. We were so impressed by the time, love and creativity he put into gifts for the girls. Also loved hearing his voice on Kai's phone chatting away to his grandkids in the evenings, always so curious about their interests. Maren remembers him being very playful with kids and having great taste in toothbrushes.
We send love to the whole clan and look forward to celebrating him together when the time is right.
Lots of love, Maren, Mark, Amanda and Anika.

Zig had the ability to make a gathering an event. His intense interest in new things, bright smile and laughter are good memories. Zig didn’t see a tree, he envisioned what it could become. Chickens in the side yard, digging the pond, Paga helping deliver a lamb...once was enough! Our condolences to John and Kai, two fine sons who loved their father. Cherish the time you had together, our love to you. Jane and David Raimondo

My name is Paul. Zig and I became good friends at Movati gym. We would ride our stationary bikes beside each other when our gym visits coincided. Zig and I shared many of our life experiences, including travel, the North country, and family. The gym will not be the same without him, and I will miss the laughs we shared, along with our conversations about anything and everything. Zig was a genuine and very kind gentleman.

Oh man. Don’t even know where to start. Being one of Kai’s best friends Zig always treated me like another son. He was a special man.
So many great memories of zig pulling up in his old red van and moving Kai and I between housing in university.
Daily drop offs at our university housing of homemade pickles and the most incredible leak soup.
He always had a huge smile waiting to give the latest update on his escapades to the gym, his new tractor, trips to Algonquin or the tomatoes coming up from his garden.
He lived life to fullest and shared his good cheer with everyone he encountered.
We’ll miss you Zig!!!

Hi, My name is Mary and I know Ziggy from doing Paul's spin class at Movati. Over the years we certainly became family in that class and Ziggy certainly kept us entertained with his larger than life spirit - and craziness! I loved how the young newcomers to the class would look over at him, but that was why we all loved him. He was always very aware and grateful to be alive. That spirit carried with him. He talked a lot about the cottage, his kids and his love of life. I believe I chatted with him the day the gym had to close - he on the stationary bike next to mine. I am sorry for your loss and am glad to have had just a little bit of him in my life.

There are too many memories to share of time spent with "The Unc" at the cabin up north. Some great laughs - some serious discussion - some philosophical - and some "creative concepts" from Zig - and I look back on it all fondly. I have sincerely appreciated the time I was able to spend with him. Thank you Uncle Zig - we'll miss you!
My condolences to the entire family.

The big "surprise" - I am going to miss the "UNC" so much - some of the best times of my life were up north spending time with him and friends!
He was so generous, thoughtful and especially entertaining - he truly appreciated the world we live in and always made the most of every moment.
Again - I am really going to miss him - I am so thankful he helped create incredible memories that I will be able to keep forever.
The "UNC" will live on always, in my heart and mind!
Thanks "UNC"!!!!
