Ellen, and family, most sincere condolences from myself and on behalf of Mad Science.
There is a plaque in our office called "The Mad Science Hall of Fame". I think you know it, because you are named on it. It has existed for near 13 years. Yet only about 15 names are on that plaque. Mad Science has employed over 1000 folks in that time. That's 15 people out of 1000. It's rare air
and we are very particular of who is chosen to be a part of that plaque. One of the 15 names on that plaque is Stephen Todd. The plaque is in our entry way so we see his name every day when we come to work. As has everyone who has ever worked with us, and will work with us.
But there is something bigger than that. My son Jack is turning 18 this year. A lot of Mad Scientists worked with Jack. The one Mad Scientist Jack never stopped asking about was Professor Spark. The first person I shared the news with was Jack; because of what Stephen meant to him. Stephen impacted my son's life, as he did so many students. I don't know what better way to comment on Stephen then that.
Donation to be made. And eventually, when the world can go out again, another donation at the Irish Pub down the way, with a loud toast to Stephen...
Peace and love.

Heart felt condolences and prayers to the Todd'n'Toshes. Stephen was a wonderful man.. Over the years we shared many laughs and memories whether watching a race, hanging out in the pits, listening to the bank or a drop by visit to reminisce. He will definitely be missed and fondly thought of. Gone for now but NEVER forgotten. He will live in our hearts forever. Big hugs for Ellen, Cam, Shannon and their families.

Stephen,
When I had my first bodhran lesson almost 20 years ago, I had no idea the impact you would have on my life. I will always treasure your encouragement, the opportunities to play with you, and the friends I have met through you. Your face lit up with joy whenever you saw a familiar face, and I am so grateful to have known you. My thoughts are with your family at this time.

My deepest condolences to you Ellen and family... Stephen was a truly joyful person, someone who immediately made you feel welcomed. I remember the first time Mike introduced me to you Ellen, and Stephen in your home and you served an Indian dinner from your child hood and Stephen entertained us with stories and reflections of Mike and his motorcycling days, and of Ireland. And every time thereafter, and at your picnic parties, I would see that glint in his eye and gentle smirk on his face that said a joke or laughable comment was coming. He truly enjoyed life with friends and family, and has left a wonderful family and legacy. While we can't celebrate with you in a traditional 'wake' setting, know that we are raising a glass to him now. Our thoughts are with you.

Jean and I send our condolences to all those who knew and loved Steve. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you Ellen in your time of grief. As part of the Knox family, we are grateful for the time spent together. The times spent playing music with Steve at Scran and Dram, Falls Road and Malt and Barley were a joy of my life, and when we are allowed out once again, many's the song we will play in his honour.

Hey, brother Steve! (Ellen called me that and I'm goin with it!) Sorry you had to make such an unexpected departure. If I'd known you were headin out, I'd have popped over last Tuesday, b4 the hospital thingy. Heck, we'd have ALL been there. You did such an amazing job of always looking on the bright side...with that can-do attitude. You never let us know how much it hurt. (I found out that the way you left is literally known as an "Irish goodbye"; slipping out while no one's looking...so as not to cause a fuss. Man, you have a lot of beautifully Irish class!)
Ellen also mentioned, "If we were going to have a 'normal' service (and by that, I assume she meant sans-Covid)...and I let everyone speak, it'd be a week long funeral." I agreed, that was a pretty good way to measure how much we all love...and respect you. (I actually figured it might be a TWO week jam, once the stage was all set up, the instruments were in tune and the beer got into being poured!)
Oh and, btw, turns out Wikipedia agrees with me, you are TOTALLY an official, iconic Leprechaun! No folklore involved. Yup. "Bearded man. Dressed in a coat and hat. Partaking in mischief. An Irish fairy with a pot of gold at the end of his rainbow". Go ahead, Google it; your pic isn't there yet, but I'm negotiating with the Wiki Foundation. And I figure YOUR pot of gold is the amazing legacy of wonderful children and grandchildren you shared the rainbow of your life with. The world appreciates your gift, so you don't have to do the traditional "granting three wishes".
The three things I'll be remembering you by (dangling participle, I know that!) are Music, Motorcycles and aforementioned MISCHIEF. So.......buddy......keep your bodhran tappin, your engine revs up and whenever the opportunity presents itself, spin on the ice like you were back at the Puslinch National Championship. (you and I and your oldest and dearest fellow KWCSA members know exactly what we're talkin about here).
We love you. We already miss you. But we'll be there with you sooner or later to "keep you engaged". (It's a biz-speak thing; pay no attention, buddy.)
Slan agat!

No doubt Stephen will have a 'hundred thousand welcomes'as the many musicians who have gone before him welcome with with a huge "Failte romhat" at the pearly gates. One of life's true gentlemen, he always was a pleasure to be around, and his love for the ceol (music) was infectious. Many's a moment we spent exaggerating our "Norn Iron' accents and having a laugh; and many's the good song we shared too.
Stephen was Failte - he was the spark, the driving force, and the heartbeat. He will be missed.
Eugene and Nonie.

Remembering Stephen Todd – a short tribute from Seán and Emily O'Seasnáin:
So sad. Stephen was a longtime friend. I had the privilege of spending hours with him when we co-hosted CKWR's The Fifth Province way back in the 1990s. The show celebrated "the varieties of Irishness in music song and story". Stephen's superb repertoire of Irish and Celtic music, his magnanimity of spirit and ecumenical generosity made it possible to bring listeners - Irish or not - "a pot pourri of musical expressions" ('Cross Cultures' magazine). We were on the air together every Tuesday beginning July 3, 1990. A few years later we would be claiming jocosely over a pint or two that our radio program anticipated the April 10, 1998 Belfast peace agreement between the British and Irish governments - known as the Good Friday Agreement. You see Stephen was a native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland and raised in the Presbyterian tradition; I was born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland and brought up Catholic ... and we both worked hand-in-glove in promoting our heritage together. Condolences to Ellen and family.

The loss of a friend that you respected and admired pales in comparison to the deep sadness felt by loved ones and family. I hope that in some small way my sense of loss becomes a stone in a larger foundation and a solid base for the whole Todd family to stand on and celebrate Stephen's life and the legacy he has left behind.
