Murray and Linda Lumley posted a condolence

Linda and I were saddened to learn of David's passing in the September 28 Canadian Mennonite. David along with his wife Eleanor were our pastors at Hamilton Mennonite Church from 1984 to 1994 when we moved elsewhere. We remember David and Eleanor as a team, thoughtful, loving of their flock including our four kids, now adults with their own children, and just good friends. Linda even worked as a secretary for David and Eleanor for a time. We are thinking of Eleanor and Amarah their daughter at this time. Murray and Linda Lumley, Toronto

Eleanor, we are saddened to hear of your loss, we hold memories of the late 70's, early 80's dear to us. Dearest Eleanor,
My heart goes out to you on the occasion of this momentous loss. I did not know David, but my most warm and appreciative memory is of the leadership he provided in the International Ecumenical conference he helped put together in the early 90's in Hamilton, where I was transformed by many of the speakers I heard from North American and England. I hold you tenderly in my thoughts and prayers.. Anna Hemmendinger ahemmendinger@gmail.com

Hello Eleanor, you and I only met a couple of times but I fondly remember meeting you. I took my CPE course with David and with Myrta in 2004. I have nothing but fond memories of our weekly commute to Hamilton. My life And my chaplaincy training was enriched deeply by David and I am stunned to hear of his passing. He taught me so much about my own faith and I am grateful to have known him. I will keep David, you and your daughter in my prayers. With affection, Annabel (Quinn) MacDonald

I worked with David for several years at FMH. He was very special to and provided much comfort and support to my family. He did my mother Marg Prickett's eulogy and on a happier occasion he performed the marriage ceremony of my sister Tracy and her husband Russell. He really cared about people. He will be missed.
