I'm so deeply saddened to hear of Sarah's passening. We met while working at Bingamans and she was so kind, so funny and my shift buddy. It was always such a pleasure working with Sarah because she could always put a smile on your face. We would always chat before switching shifts and it was so easy to talk with her, it was like we knew each other for years before. She was a beautiful light in the workplace. Although we haven't seen each other in years, it was nice to chat with here over social media a few months ago. She will be deeply missed and I send my sincere condolences to her family. I first met Sarah while studying for qualifying exams. I remember joking and lamenting with her over all we had to study, she made that time in my life easier and much more tolerable despite just meeting. Very approachable and easy to talk to with a kind smile. She will be greatly missed.

I met Sarah waitressing at Johnny Roccos. Instantly, Sarah showed me the ropes and had me laughing throughout our shifts together. Somehow, she managed to have every weekend off in the summer - which is unheard of in that industry. Sarah and Sara and I kept in touch after, having our bi-monthly dinners with dill dip and catching up. She truly cared about me and my life and kept our hangouts full of stories and insight into our lives. I always couldn't believe the amount of good friends she had! I will miss her a lot! She really was the best!

This is a very difficult goodbye. I was Sarah's co-advisor for her PhD on antibiotic resistance with Scott McEwen, but I first hired her over 10 years ago as a co-op student and again as a lab tech/research associate after her MSc. She was a wonderful person - totally dependable, always bright, thoughtful and kind. This is a terrible loss and leaves a big hole in what she would have accomplished in science and for the people she connected with in life. Words fail.

I'll never forget Sarah's sense of humour, which made coming into work every day fun, entertaining, and full of surprises. She was always ready with a new story from the daily going of her life, complete with quick wit, satire, and a delivery that made your belly ache from laughter. And I will never forget her laugh. It was contagious, and lit up everyone around her. Beneath the humour, Sarah was also incredibly kind, generous, and the kind of intelligent that rivals my first-year calculus prof. She told many stories, but she loved hearing her friends' stories as well. She was a sounding board for any issue I or any other friend had, whether it be professional, personal, philosophical, or Bachelor-etical, and she provided solutions and predictions with crazy speed and insight. Best of all, she never judged. Sarah took you as you were. For this reason, Sarah's advice and friendship were always sought after. I loved exercising with Sarah, eating her delicious treats she brought me some mornings, leaving love notes on her desk, and looking up to see her eyes peering over my cubicle followed by a voice saying, Hey, It's me. »
Sarah loved people, and people loved Sarah. This makes sense, because Sarah had that special gift of unwavering positivity and light-heartedness, which she shared with as many people as possible during her time with us.
Intelligent, funny, wise, beautiful, inspiring, driven, and kind. Sarah had it all. She will always be my role model, and I will miss her dearly.

My sincere condolences to Justin and all of Sarah's family and friends. As a neighbour I had the absolute pleasure to get to know Sarah over the past year and I will always value her passion for life and her friendship. She was such an inspiration with her positive outlook, living her life to the fullest with such courage. Sarah will truly be missed, but the memories will live on in our hearts. I'm so sorry for your loss. I only knew Sarah from a distance as we worked in different units at OMAFRA, yet also on the occasional team project. Walking out of the office together one evening we got into a conversation. Sarah struck me as a warm, kind person and so easy to talk to. May you cherish the time and memories you had with such a lovely person.

Sarah was studying for her PhD degree with Richard Reid-Smith and I in the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph. He research examined food and environmental aspects of antibiotic resistance. For several years prior to this she worked for us and other colleagues at the Public Health Agency of Canada as a research associate conducting microbiological and epidemiological studies on antibiotic resistance. This work led to her recent PhD research topic. Sarah was an outstanding student, employee, colleague and friend to us all. She was exceptionally intelligent, hard-working and dedicated. Sarah was a wonderful person; full of life and love for science. She was so kind and cheerful. What a terrible tragedy is one so young with her whole life and career ahead of her.

Sarah and I went to Mac together and I have fond memories of that time together. She was always such a warm and kind person. I remember when we first me she later told me she thought I was a 'weirdo' and that it was only after us getting to know each other over time that I became 'cool'. Just goes to show her sense of humour and sarcasm! Later as we both did co-op and she was close friends with my roommate Hari I saw her quite often. We always had a good conversation at those times and it was clear Sarah was a wonderful person with great values. It is sad we have lost her, but her presence and influence in our lives will live on.

Sarah always had a new travel or wedding to tell me about. She lived life to the fullest, it was infectious. Her whit could not be matched. Always looked forward to our conversations, often left me with a smile so big it would hurt. She always took the time to listen. She definitely met her match with Justin. It was so nice to see them together at our family events over the years. His quite nature was basically impossible to keep, around Sarah. Her playfulness, I feel kept him on his toes. Sarah loved and touch so many lives all with a unique relationship, I'm so happy I was a part of. Heaven gained a true angel on Monday. She will be forever missed. Thank you Sarah for all you gave.
