"Marion Given was a remarkable woman. Knox Waterloo also experienced her as an "admirable woman who faced life's hardships with grace, fortitude, and stoicism." She was ordained an Elder at a time when many churches did not have women Elders. She served in this role with great faithfulness and wisdom and was involved in many other groups at Knox where her creativity, and positive spirit were admired by many. She was indeed someone who was visionary and pragmatic putting her faith into practice in so many ways. In particular I remember a very poignant conversation with Marion at her home when a young girl (age 9) was killed in a boating accident. Marion was helpful to me, showed great compassion and empathy for the grieving family, shared stories of grief from her life, and donated towards the funeral reception. Those of us who knew Marion give God thanks for her long life, the gifts of mind and spirit and personality that were uniquely hers and send our deepest sympathy to Bruce and Janet and the whole family."

Marion loved her gardens and enjoyed her years with the Garden Club of Kitchener Waterloo and all that she learned with them.
A donation has been made to the Club which will be used to help purchase items for the garden at " Kids Ability " in Waterloo.
It offers the children an opportunity to experience the garden with their senses. Marion loved children and learning, this honours
her in 3 of her interests.
