Obituary of Mavis Elizabeth Wolfenden

Mavis Elizabeth Wolfenden (nee Roberts), 92, formerly of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, passed away on September 30, 2020 in Waterloo, Ontario. 

Beloved wife of George, who predeceased her in 2017, Mavis is survived by her children Brian (Joan Hafer) of Ottawa and Diane (Stephen Lindt) of Waterloo, her Hafer step-grandchildren: Mark; Carolyn (Tony Bogart); Stephen (Lauren); and Debi, and her niece Doreen Dunn (Dennis) and their children and grandchildren of Rancho Cordova, CA. Mavis was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Marvin ‘Bud’ Spoelstra and nephew Dennis Spoelstra of California.

Mavis was born in Crosby, England to Arthur and Mary Isabella (nee German) Roberts on October 15, 1927.  Prior to the birth of her children, she worked as a secretary.  On returning to work, she became a cosmetician, first at Boots in England and then with Eatons. Upon retirement, she and George took up square dancing and travelled the world with the friends they made at Circles & Squares and the other square-dancing clubs in Montreal and vicinity. 

Cremation has taken place.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo, Ontario, who worked tirelessly to keep her safe during the COVID pandemic.
