Dear Norma and family, , I am so sorry to hear of David's death and so glad to have known him, my sympathies go out to you all. I met David around 1980 when you were both running Fairview Home. In my work with older adults , I learned most of what I know from you and David, you were the visionary stars of Nursing Homes and you were revered and respected by all , you and David were the provincial leaders and mentors to all those working with older adults. The ice cream and the toilet paper is just one of so many stories and values that made our residential care system a good place and Fairview was the best. David was kind, gentle patient and had a great sense of humour in all his dealings, he also was an expert on the needs of older people and had the vision and tenacity to lead in creating a safe and stimulating environment for all. He is such a huge loss to the world, but we will never lose all that we learned from David and from you, Norma. I carry you in my heart.
With my fondest love, Irene O'Toole

from Mervin Roth. My sympathy to Norma & family on David's passing. Worked with David at Hallman's for several yrs.Did not realize how Many things we had in common.... ie I was born May 9th 1933,not in a hospital. Both grew up on farms. Both went to electronic training schools. I also did radio & tv repairs part time. Both liked music. I still play a large 2 manual Organ most days .Also golfed & water skied. Love pie. Both married at First Mennonite in 1955.( 65 yrs ago) Have renovated many houses & other projects . However cannot sing since adult hood, un like David. I enjoyed doing Organ Church installations learning from David & took over his position when he left Hallman Organs in 1960 .After that did not see him very often, except at Fairview Home, where my mother in law was a resident. Always thought we had some what similar traits, but did not realize same birth date.Fare well David , the world has lost a good person. I also remember you Norma, your pleasant down to earth warmth & smile, and I wish you well at this sad time in your life. PS .Not sure if you know , we moved full time to Vancouver Island in 2008, & lived here part time a few years before that. mlrbc500@gmail.com Best wishes & stay safe. Merv Roth

My condolences to you Norma, and the rest of the family! My memory of David is that he was very instrumental and my mentor in getting involved in long term care administration back in the early 1980's. I had always looked up to him over the years, and sought him out in deciding on a career change. Thank you Dave! I also had the privilege of working with him at Stroke Recovery Association, Cambridge and District in later years. Miss our long chats!

My memories of David are of the "active" David at Rockway Mennonite Church in the years we met in the chapel area. David was always being helpful behind the scenes, helping with any logistics that needed addressing. He was low key but friendly, always willing to chat. I believe he was the congregational treasurer for a long time as well. I will miss his warm demeanor.
My condolences to the whole family in his passing.

Our best wishes and condolence to all the Rudy Family in this sad time. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of you. Together we shared through the years a close interest in family additions and celebrations. He was always so supportive and encouraging and never failed to look at the light side of things when that was just what was needed. We will miss him.
Norma and Bob Lounsbury.
