John was a wonderful person who loved music by ABBA. I met him 4 nights before he passed away; we shared the same hospital room as patients. One night, John started singing his favorite song (tribute to his wife) that was a very special moment that I can never forget. He had a wonderful voice. My deepest sympathies the entire family for this great loss. God Bless

To the entire Ford family. I am very sorry to learn of the passing of John. What a wonderful man who always greeted you with an enormous smile, kind word and of course some witty banter. I know that I certainly enjoyed our chats every Saturday morning while we stood around the first tee waiting for our turn to tee off.

Growing up, the Ford home was the center of our neighborhood with Mr. and Mrs. Ford always welcoming the diverse cast of characters who visited with open hearts and humor. John and Pat raised an incredible family and in many ways help raise, nurture and influence many others. John always made time to connect with great interest, humor and a twinkle in his eye.
We extend our sincere condolences to the entire family and hope that the incredible memories you have of a wonderful life lived help you through these challenging times.

I remember the drives to hockey games with Adam, the smell of pipe tobacco and the fact that GPS wasn't invented, yet he knew where every arena in Ontario was located- true story

"Here's Johnny" suave and debonair. "You can't be fun for a good time" was Johnny's motto. He initiated many fun times. We were privileged to be good friends.

Johnny was a good golfer, friend and member. I had shoulder reconstructive surgery in the mid 80's and John was in visiting Pat who was at the hospital at the same time. I woke up from my surgery with John at the end of my bed and said Strany I brought you a beer to make you feel better. He always wanted to have fun and enjoy his friends which he was successful doing. RIP 5 under

When I moved into Terrace on the Square 5 years ago, John was one of the first residents to befriend me. We never became close friends, but because we were both members of Holy Saviour we shared a kinship. He always shared his copies of The Anglican Journal and Huron Church News with me . Like Ken, I would often chat with John in the Heritage Room at the residence while he had his morning coffee.
John was one of the good guys. I shall miss him

I was fortunate to meet John three years ago when hired at Chartwell. It didn’t take long for John and I to become friends and share stories about all the same people we knew in the hockey and golf world. In those three short years we talked almost everyday. I knew Johns routines and new he would be sitting at a table in the Heritage room reading the sport section in the paper. There John would tell stories of his hockey playing days but most of all he shared stories of taking his family camping in his home made trailer. John will be dearly missed by all staff and his friends at Chartwell. Ken Witzel

Condolences to the entire Ford family on the passing of such a kind and gentle man. He made many of us smile by his mere presence. John was immensely proud of his entire family and always spoke of his children, grandchildren and greats with love in his eyes. I'm sad to hear this news, yet filled with joy having known this sweet man. I know for certain, he is reunited with the Love of his life and he and Pat are chatting away and who knows, maybe driving in a similar 'wood panel station wagon (lol).
I'm confident his legacy will live in through his family for his love will never die, for his heart resides inside your heart.
Deepest Sympathy .

John's smile said it all... a man who gave much love & joy and a man who was the recipient of much love & joy.
I first met John, Pat and Kelly's brothers on an Octoberfest weekend in the late 1970's, when John & Pat bravely welcomed a group of Kelly's Ryerson friends into their home as guests. Laughter and fun was a big part of that meeting with John & Pat and others that followed and I know it was typical of their daily family life.
To Kelly, to Martin, to the now much expanded Ford family, we mourn your loss with you but wish you happier times ahead.
Your shared photos are wonderful, Ford family.

I was sincerely sorry to hear of John's passing. I worked for him at Reed Stenhouse for quite a few years and he was wonderful to work for. He took such joy treating us all to Pat's delicious Buckeyes. I will always remember his smile and laugh. He told me I had my blouse on backwards one day and laughed about it for days. He never let me forget it so it brings a smile to my face even to this day. My sincerest condolences to the entire Ford family. He was so proud of you all.
Sincerely,
Penny Jenkins
