Sincere condolences to the Ratza girls and family. Your Mom taught me in grade 2 in what I believe was her 1st year of teaching . It was here that I developed a love of learning that has lasted a lifetime. Her skill and caring was evident , it never left me . I often reflected on her ways during my years as a teacher and principal in a catholic setting. One of my highlights was always Christmas mass when I would go home to Kirkland lake , it was important to me to introduce my wife then our 2 sons to her and to share that I was a teacher. As always she made us all feel so special . I am sure because of her, your dad would let me skate with the Holy Name and St. Jerome kids at the arena the day after Halloween which was a catholic holiday. Ed was wonderful to me also. RIP Mlle. Rheaume , you made a difference MERCI

Dear Jocelyne, Charlotte, Stephanie and families,
So very sad to learn of Your loss. My ties to Gisele go back quite far. She taught me in the 2nd grade at “la vieille école Assomption”, she was a mentor when I did my practice teaching, a colleague, and then finally, I had the pleasure of working under her leadership when she assumed duties as principal.
She set such high standards by her daily example. Always on the move, present and attentive to both students and teachers, she was a hard act to follow. Her door was rarely closed - you could hear and feel the energy within the classroom not to mention the comfort and securIty that surrounded the little ones. Many good memories of those years.
With deepest sympathy,
Dolores Bruckner Lynch

My deepest condolences to the family of a very special person. Mme Ratza was my teacher in pré-maternelle in Kirkland Lake, about 45 years ago now. I loved her, and my mother maintains that she is the reason I didn’t hate school. Thanks in part to the love of learning she helped instill, I remain curious, even with a few degrees under my belt. I wish my own children had had the privilege of knowing her. RIP, Mme Ratza.

What a blessing it was to have Mme. Ratza as a kindergarten teacher, and then as a principal, at Ecole Assomption in Kirkland Lake. She made a lasting impact on all of her students, and for those of us who ended us as teachers ourselves, we are all the more in awe of all that she did. May she rest in peace.

I will always cherish having known Gisele as a work colleague and golfing partner. Gisele was my mentor when I took over her JK classroom when she became principal of École Assomption in Kirkland Lake.
We also golfed many, many Ladies’ Nights at the KLGC as well as several tournaments at the Pinewood Golf Club in North Bay. She was such a down to earth woman abounding with so many qualities, and she always exuded such confidence. She will forever be remembered with fondness.
