Dear Uncle Laurie, Mo and Lisa. I wanted to share some of my fondest memories of Aunt Bert. The first naturally concerns food—the best apple pancakes I have ever had. They continue to be the gold standard by which everyone else’s are judged and found lacking. The warm and gentle welcome I always received from her no matter how long the time had been between visits. She always made me feel safe and very much at home. But I think my biggest debt of gratitude to her is in matters of faith. It was her faith and faithfulness that bundled all three Aylmer kids and a couple of Macfarlane ones into the back of her little VW beetle every Sunday to take us to Sunday School. As you all know that was a significant gift for me. Those faithful journeys to Calvary Baptist stirred and fed my own journey of faith and look where that led:). That sort of faithfulness, gentle kindness , and firm resolve were not just occasional acts for her, they were the consistent marks of her character which spilled over with love and delight to those around her. May that same love and delight strengthen all of you as celebrate her life even as you mourn her loss. With much love, Calum and Tracy
