Bonnie said to me , probably 39 years ago, that everyone on the street is our family ,and everyone here is our dearest friend. No one will ever be excluded, no one will be abandoned ,and we will protect each other, including on the darkest, stormiest, most fearful nights. The rules will never change, everyone will feel safe here. We will help each other out, in danger. That's the way it going to be. She walked the whole street and got everyone to tell us how to contact them, now. She then gave that list to every single person on the street. That, essentially, was Bonnie .

Words cannot express how sorrowful the loss of this amazing woman, my dearest friend for more than 50 years. She was a dear friend to many but first and always foremost she was a dedicated loving mother and grandmother. She was truly goodness, kindness and selflessness personified. In the face of the many struggles she endured she met each and every one of them with courage, hope, grace and dignity. My condolences to all who mourn her loss and let us all learn from her how to be faithful and loyal friend. Rest in eternal peace my friend. xxxooo

For those of us who were fortunate enough to have Bonnie in our lives, we have memories of a dear friend that we will treasure for a lifetime. Personally, I will miss our long talks; our getaways with the Rice Lake Girls and/or just the two of us; planning for future getaways; and, laughing at the silliest things. However, most of all I will miss the friendship that never wavered despite what the years and life brought us.

My sincere condolences to all members of Bonnie’s family and the numerous friends that mourn her loss. I am very sorry that Tim, Brian and family, and Heather have lost their adoring Bonnie.
I know that Barbara, Marthe and Gloria, her comrades in arms in Customs and her Rice Lake sisters, are hurting deeply. Bonnie was always ready to give her loving care to those in need of support and love. It really was the hallmark of her life. She touched deeply those who were lucky enough to be her friend.
I got to know Bonnie later than most. I was fortunate to have been welcomed, with her blessing and open arms, into my most cherished circle of friends, the Rice Lake Girls, and to have shared many a memorable cottage stay and fireside chat, as well as post-retirement trips with her. Throughout these get-togethers it was abundantly clear how much Bonnie loved her family and how much she prioritized their welfare. Bonnie was truly unique in so many extraordinarily generous ways. Her speech at Brian’s wedding after battling cancer demonstrated not only her courage but her all-consuming pride and love of family.
The sound of her laughter, a verse of a Rolling Stone’s song, her rush to put lipstick on before pictures could be taken, and her enthusiasm for Survivor and Trump discussions will continue to make us smile every time we think of her and...this will be often. Love and miss you dearest Bonnie.
SuzAnne Doré ,
(Proud friend and Rice Lake Girls Inductee)

Bonnie was more than a friend for almost 40 years. She kept in touch in spite of being too often, thousand miles apart. She cherished her friendships and nurtured them. When you became her friend, it was for life.
The last time I talked to her we reminisced about all the laughs, fun and adventures we shared, like the Wine Club days in Hamilton when we walked to our cars barefoot to protect our new shoes from the rain. There are so, so, so many good memories. She used to make fun of my French accent all the time.
Bonnie and I also shared tears, worries and pains. She never let you down.
The Rice Lake girls will continue to party with you dear Bonnie like we have done for almost 35 years. Gloria, Barb, SuzAnne and me will honour you forever as an angel in our lives. We miss you so much.
Brian, Heather, you were just kids when I met your mother. You were her life. She loved you so much. She would have given her life for you.
Tim, she was so proud of her pilot husband who used to extinguish forest fires in BC.
Dear Bonnie rest in peace. You more than deserve it.
Deepest condeleances to all her family and friends.
