WAGLAND, Dorothy Catherine

1923 - 2020

Passed away peacefully at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener on December 22, 2020, at the age of 97.  Loving mother of Alan (Anne) and Graham.  Dearest grandmother of Nikki (Brian) Stewart and Matthew (Jurate).  Great-grandmother of John, Mikey, Jamie and Andie.  She will be dearly missed by special friend Vee Marsden.  Dorothy (Dot) was born in Coventry, England and served in the WAAF during the Second World War. Stationed initially at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, she was posted to Palestine where she met her beloved Reg who was serving as a navigator in the RAF.  Married in England in 1947, Dot and Reg enjoyed many happy years there (during which Dot took on various volunteer activities and especially enjoyed working with the Meals on Wheels program in Warwick/Leamington Spa).  Together they came to Canada in 1989 where Dot supported Reg in starting and operating a training and support program (BASO) to assist welfare recipients in returning to the workplace, and where Dot continued her volunteer work at Grand River Hospital.  Predeceased by her “darling Regga” (they are together again now), and by her brother Alan Meek.  Special thanks and gratitude to the staff at Trinity Village LTC (Maple Bush) for their wonderful care and support.  A private service will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo.  Relatives and friends may join the family in the livestream of Dot’s service at www.erbgood.com on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:30am..
