I was so sorry to hear of Drew's passing, I have such fond memories of growing up on Huntingdon Cres in Waterloo. Lots of memories of the Northfield Raquet Club, random city tennis courts, The "Weekender" Holiday Inn trips, Talisman Resort, and good times at a young age with Candace and Marnie. I'm sorry we lost touch over the years and my thoughts are with you and your families and for the sad loss of Drew.
Love,
Sue MacKay (nee Lettner)

Drew and I were friends through Jr High School at Windsor and High School at Glenlawn Collegiate. We both played hockey for the Windsor Raiders. We were forwards on the 4th line so spent a lot of time on the bench getting to know each other and trying to keep our feet from freezing solid! Also played shinny at Windsor Community Club and the Kingston Rd Rink. Drew was always upbeat and cheerful and continued that way until his final days.
My sincere condolences to Nancy and family.

I was very saddened to hear of Drew's recent passing. I came to know Nancy and Drew when I was a graduate student, along with Sri Namachchivaya, at the University of Waterloo in the mid 80s. In fact it was Sri who introduced me to them.
As Sri mentioned earlier, Nancy and Drew always welcomed us to their house, making us feel like part of the family. Among the memories from those days, there is one in particular that stands out for me. Drew used to give us financial advice for our journey through life. His mantra: "dollar cost averaging" was repeated to us on more than one occasion. This was indeed sage advice that I took to heart and which has resulted in the little nest-egg I now have in retirement.
Those were fun times that I wish I could relive. Nancy, Candace, and Marnie: you have my sincere condolences.

Nancy, George, dad and I are so, so sorry for your loss. Drew was a kind, wonderful person who left us too soon. I will always remember his and your kindness to my parents, with your regular visits to Oakville, with treats. Mum loved those treats! I especially appreciated the two of you keeping an eye on them whenever George and I were away. Marnie and Candace, your dad will be missed by everyone who knew him. So sorry for your loss. It is with profound sadness that I write this short tribute to Drew. He was a trusted friend, a devoted father, and a loving husband. Our heartfelt condolences for your loss in this sad and trying time. Our deepest sympathy goes out to, Nancy, Candace and Marnie and their families.
Much as we know we will someday lose our loved ones, when it does happen, it is difficult to comprehend. It can be hard to know where to turn, but you have a strong and closely-knit family which will be a great support in this trying time for all of you, especially Nancy.
I met Drew for the first time during the final year of my doctoral degree at University of Waterloo in the spring of 1984, almost four decades ago. He was always a sincere, gentle person and an avid reader-- a walking encyclopedia of Canadian history and politics of the 60s and the 70s. His love of sports always made for wonderful and interesting conversation. Drew also had a great sense of humor and his stories and jokes always raised my spirits. I fondly remember my visits to Drew and Nancy’s house in Waterloo, the delicious meals, and the discussions about the politics and the various personalities. They always included both myself and my classmate Henry as members of the family, particularly during the holidays.
Drew, Nancy and the girls helped me move to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the summer of 1985 – a two car caravan, lots of miles and lots of fun. It would have been impossible without Drew‘s enormous help, patience and sense of humor.
I have wonderful memories of our times together and he will be greatly missed.

A devoted husband/father/grandfather who cherished his Nancy and two daughters Candace Marnie and their families.
We were neighbours of Nancy and Drew for decades; they mentored us with fabulous parenting skills. Nancy and Drew travelled to many destinations with our family while coaching baseball with my husband and grooming our daughters in "lessons of life" He frequently would have analytical discussions with my husband during the Grey Cup parties hosted at their warm and welcoming home; WE NEVER DID WIN THE FOOTBALL POOL!
He was an avid reader, life long learner and had an inquiring mind always recommending articles and books of interest.
Twin Oaks backed on to a green belt and we frequently would see Drew in the backyard with binoculars viewing and deciphering the sounds of different birds.
We share in your loss and are thinking of you. We have wonderful memories of our times together.
May you Rest in Peace and know you will be greatly missed
Janet, Brian, Lindsay and Shelby Kurt

Nancy, Candace, and Marnie,
I was so sad to hear of Drew's sickness and passing. He was truly one of a kind.
Juli Leith wrote of his "Columbo" personna and Paul Struck wrote of his office organization. Both comments brought a smile to my face.
Those of us who played hockey with Drew while at Manulife will recall that his nickname was "Dit" after Dit Clapper who played for the Boston Bruins in the 30s and 40s. Drew's equipment must have come from the 50s! He was a highlight for us.
I can't listen to a Neil Young song without remembering Drew's connection to Neil while in high school in Winnipeg.
Drew - you will be dearly missed! So many laughs.

Nancy, Candace, Marnie and families,
My heart breaks for you! I am so very sorry to hear about Drew.
Like so many others, I have some very fond memories of Drew from our Manulife days. I was so young and green when I started at Manulife and Drew was so helpful for my growth and development. He was a very busy man, but always made the time to help.
We affectionately called him Columbo...he was brilliant and sure knew his tax and insurance stuff but he was always a little disheveled. He was so endearing...we all loved him!
And I will always remember the whole family, with fondness, from the picnics and the CFL games and Grey Cup parties!
The earth has lost a precious soul. He will be missed dearly.

I was so sad to read of Drew's passing. I have so many fond memories of great times at the Manu Branch in Waterloo. We had many wonderful social and business events that we all enjoyed there.
Drew was very supportive of us throughout our careers and always had the answers to our questions; he was the branch historian. One distinct memory that I have is of Drew's organization in his office. Documentation was always piled high in every nook and cranny, but he could find anything you needed in seconds or answer any question.
All my sympathy to his family and to his many close friends who have lost this kind and gentle man.
Strucky (Paul Struck and Jo Ann)
