I feel so blessed to have met Gloria during her lifetime. She was easy to be around; easy to talk to. I think the clarity she had within herself made it easy and natural to converse with her. I enjoyed our moments together and feeling understood without judgement. She had a special way of getting a message across without too many words - I looked up to her for that. I know Gloria touched a lot of people in positive ways, and I am so grateful that I was one of those people - she was a mentor and friend. Gloria, may your soul be at peace and I hope you can enjoy watching all the entertaining human drama that we happens down here on earth.

Gloria was my counsellor for the last several years. She was a gift given to me by the late Kristin Trotter. I will continue to carry her essence in my heart and her wisdom will no doubt be reflected in my relationships... she taught me so much! Her wisdom was always delivered in short sound bites. Always impactful. Never ego. I will miss her terribly but I know she will continue to show up in my world.

So sad to hear of Gloria’s passing. I met Gloria 15 years ago and she was a Godsent. So much knowledge and compassion. My son was also a huge fan of hers. She certainly left a legacy with her persona and work helping people with their struggles.
We will never forget you Gloria. Please continue to guide us if you are able to do so.
Much love Gianna and Joe.

I met Gloria, and received therapy from her, at Interfaith 30 years ago. It was at a very difficult time of my life when I was faced with multiple stressors and some difficult decisions to make. It was the genuine caring, wisdom and support from Gloria that I overcame those difficulties and moved on to a very meaningful, happy and fulfilled life. I will never forget her kindness and will be eternally grateful to her. God bless her beautiful soul and those that love her.

My dearest friend, how I will miss you. I loved reading others memories of you here as they echoed so much of what I knew and loved about you. As sad as I am I'm also glad you are now out of pain and onto your next adventure. You have left an amazing legacy here with all those you touched with your work and your love. Thank you for leaving your imprint on me. I'm looking forward to having another cackle with you when we next meet.
Gloria helped me be a mother while doing what I loved by bringing the work I did to K/W. In doing so she gave me community in a place that I craved it. Although I only had the pleasure of seeing her every year or two more recently, she had a way of making me feel like family and I so appreciate how she shared hers with me. I will greatly miss our philosophical discussions and learning of the newest therapy or spiritual teacher she had discovered. If Gloria had vetted it, I was probably soon to follow. So grateful to her whom along with Deborah introduced me to Oneness which has continued to play such an important role in my life.
Sending my deepest condolences to her beautiful family and partner. Wishing you peace and to know that you loved her so well.

Meeting Gloria over 20 years ago changed my life. Gloria introduced me to Virginia Satir to the work of the Haven Institute to Mother Meera and.....the list just keeps on going. But really, the healing and life changing came from knowing and having Gloria in my life. She was generous, an adventurerer, loving, so wise and that sense of humour that I appreciated even in the hardest times, which is when it was also the most healing.
In 2003 I travelled to Brazil and afterwards I shared with Gloria that I wanted to learn to lead groups on spiritual retreats there. Without any hesitation, Gloria said she would love to be in the practice group and she would put it together. Months later, off we went to Brazil for two weeks on quite an adventure.
I'll miss her.
Sending love to Gloria's family, thinking of you all.
Love, Vanessa Duffy

I remember Gloria well from years ago - such a fine therapist, trainer, teacher, mentor and supporter. She had such a natural radiance about her and a beautiful joie de vivre. And ever so humble, even though she was of course, brilliant.
I will light my white candle for Gloria now - and may it’s flame also symbolize my gratitude for having the honour and privilege to know Gloria and work with her through some of our Satir trainings. I always held her in my heart. We even talked about maybe one day she could come visit us in our lovely seaside town of Chemainus, on Vancouver Island.
Gloria was a shining light of Love and that Love and Light will shine forever and radiate in everyone’s hearts,
I know her Spirit lives on and her rich legacy enriches so many lives.
Sending Love and Light to dear Gloria, now freed of all pain, and to all of her treasured family.

I met with Gloria once during the early 2000's for help with a difficult decision. I wanted to pursue a graduate degree and wasn't sure I could do it while raising two young children on my own. Gloria was a thoughtful listener and a kind and compassionate person. After that one meeting, I felt clearer about what I needed to do to improve my life, and I did it!
My knowledge of her passing came this morning when I spontaneously Googled her name.
She will always remain a very significant catalyst for me.
Love,
Karin Turkington

I am forever grateful to Gloria. She helped me through one of the most challenging times in my life. Through her I learned to love deeper, trust in the universe, be courageous, and experience the freedom of letting go of the family of origin ties that held me back. Over the years I have shared her words of wisdom with many friends and family. She lives on in the hearts of all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.

Gloria has been my own therapist for 20 years; she was my teacher in grad school, and a mentor long afterwards. Everything I have become in the last 20 years, I owe in largest part to her inspiration, her model, her teaching, her perspective. I became a therapist because of her, and I now supervise interns and qualifying therapists because of her. She's left behind an amazing family, and an amazing legacy in the therapy world that some of us will spend the rest of our own lives trying to uphold and fulfill. Thank you Gloria; the gifts you gave us are immeasurable, and I am infinitely grateful.

I got to know Gloria through her private practice over the last decade.....she was so insightful and real. Our montly sessions always went overtime or started a bit early. Gloria and I would talk first about books, movies, food, investments....things that friends talk about. Then as a counsellor she would just speak her mind, not afraid to challenge me but knowing when to pull in the reins. I lalways looked forward to our time together and I hope Gloria knew how helpful she was during some dark times. She made a positive impact on me and I know so many others. I will miss her! Thinking about her family at this difficlt time.

A profound, natural, and utterly earthy spirituality. Deep moments laced with conspiratorial winks and an occasional great guffaw.
So psychologically adept… piercing glances and absolutely no mincing of words. Talking turkey but with the lightest of touch.
Lusty delight in a gourmet meal graced with fine wine. Eager for whatever adventure could be wrung out of the day, in the face of - in spite of - snowballing decline. Never a complaint ... nor criticism ... too much Life to enjoy.
A pioneer in this new approach to death, unconsciously teaching even while dying. Her parting gift.

My deepest sympathy to you. It was a better world with Gloria a part of it. She was the first friend I made when I returned to Canada in 1990 and I appreciated her kindness, compassion, humour and intelligence. We had many discussions over the years and laughed a lot, too. We had a long telephone chat last summer and planned on getting together when this pandemic ended. Gloria was one in a million and I hope your memories comfort you in the coming days.

She helped us navigate all manner of love, upheaval, pain and success in our lives. We are better for having known her.
Thank you to her family for sharing her time with us. You are all in our thoughts.

Oh Dawn, what a loss. I can feel my heart breaking. So many memories of being at grad school with your mom, at Interfaith, at Marbles restaurant, buying clothes at a tree house in Tapanga Canyon, getting to Last Chance Pants just before it closed and laughing until I was crying, many, many, many times. My friend, my sister and now my hero left her way, of course! I will always love your mom Sweetheart.

Dawne (and family) although I am very sad for your loss, I am grateful that Gloria was able to transition on her terms. I am also grateful that you befriended me in high school and immediately assessed that I was in desperate need of assistance that your mom could provide. She was the first person to teach me that my life had value, she introduced me to coping mechanisms that I still incorporate into my every day and was able to share with my children- and we are all better humans for those lessons. She took great care of anyone I sent for support and I will always carry love and respect for both of you.
