I met Jaime when he was at JPL. We went out to dinner and social events a few times. It was long enough for me to see what a special person he was. Experiences or events that would send a normal person into a deep funk he would brush aside as part of the life experience. He was a great friend and colleague and will be dearly missed. - Jorge Gonzalez Jr. Jet Propulsion Lab

Jaime was always a bright spot while I was working at ColdQuanta. One of the most thoughtful people I've known, even to those he wasn't very close to. I will honor his life through my own actions, and I know he is and will be an inspiration others as well. Goodbye Jaime, you are not forgotten, and thanks for making my life a little brighter!

Jaime I will miss you very much. You have had such a positive impact in my life and everyone who came to know you. Your words of kindness, love and wisdom will continue to influence me forever and inspire me to live with courage, hope and love. I will always remember the fun and warm memories from our time together in California, Italy, Hawaii, India and Colorado.
Your life changing insights and brilliant perspective will make profound positive impact through your book on many people lives.
It comforts me and puts a smile on my face to see you enjoy these past two years in Canada with Laura and her daughter, your team at Quantum Valley and many loving friends. The world has lost a beautiful soul and a brilliant mind much too soon.
God bless you! You will always be loved and missed forever.
My deepest condolences to your family and friends. May god give everyone strength and provide peace in their heart during this difficult time.

My deepest and most sincere condolences.
Jaime was a wonderful person and it has been a pleasure to get to know him over the last two years.
I heard about the first dates he had with Laura, had the pleasure of spending a week with him at the cottage last summer, playing games in the garage or my deck during the lockdown, decorating homes and just enjoying his stories and presence.
Jaime - you were a source of wisdom, kindness, joy, laughter and calm.
Thank you for being a teacher and guide. Thank you for sharing with me your stories about the lion and the bunny. Thank you for being you.

I have known Jaime just for the last few months at Quantum Valley, which was long enough to see what a great soul he had. Jaime was an exceptional person who will be missed forever.
He was a talented professional and at the same time, so caring with a beautiful mind. We were talking about his book and all the great ideas behind it. I was telling him that I would love to read the book as soon as it gets published and then teach my kids the lessons of the book.
My deepest and most sincere condolences to Jaime’s family and friends, and may his soul Rest In Peace.

Dear Somayeh. Jaime spoke very highly of you and we discussed how wonderful it was that you were a candidate....I said...bring on more women! As he spoke about the hiring journey and even after you were hired, we would talk about the importance of women in science and the organization, and I would share my thoughts about what it could bring to the organization, women and the world. It seems silly, but we learned something new about each other because of you. I hope you will cherish it, Laura

Dear Marissa. You know how much Jaime appreciated this Einstein cork craft you made him, and the huge smile and giggle it brought him. Thank you for posting the picture, we will continue to cherish it in his memory. As you continue to make crafts with the materials Jaime gave you, think of him and know he is there with you and smiling from ear to ear. With love, Zia Laura

We will miss you so much Jaime. I loved seeing your constant smile that lights up every room that you walked into. Jaime was truly the smileyest, happiest person I have ever met. This is a picture of the Albert Einstein "cork person" Jaime asked me to make for him. He loved it. Thank you for Jaime coming into my life because you made it so much brighter. I only wished I could've biked with you someday.
Much love, and condolences to the family

We send our deepest condolences to all of Jaime's family.
Jaime brought joy into our family and we will all miss him dearly. With no effort at all my whole family fell in love with Jaime upon entering our lives. We will always remember his humor, his passion for science (and patient attempts to explain physics to us) , his warmth, his constant smile, his generosity, his easy going nature, and his willingness to participate in all our family's silliness. This is Jaime's gag exchange gift this past Christmas - he was excited to get it because the legs move up and down! Jaime was so fun to be around and to play games with and laugh with and found joy in going to a hockey game to watch my my daughter ( a new experience for him but he could figure out the game faster than we could explain it because he was just that smart) or to just visit on the front porch. Jaime welcomed us into his life and for that we are blessed.
We only wish you were not taken so soon Jaime.
You will be forever missed.
Rest in Peace.

Thank you for your calls, visits and daily check ins. I am honoured to call you SISTER. With love and fondest memories of Jaime and our family, Laura

With deepest sympathy to all of Jaime's family. Jaime will be sadly missed by my husband and I who have had the honour of knowing such a wonderful man. He was such a joy to be around and we remember him as compassionate, loving and full of energy and joy! Most recently we were able to see Jaime when he joined us in celebrating my 50th birthday. The smiles and warm wishes will be cherished forever. We love you and will miss you. Rest In Peace Jaime. xo

Dear sister:
I know how much Derrick and you loved Jaime....he had the pleasure of spending a weekend with you at your home and he loved every moment. I will forever cherish that and the opportunity your 50th birthday provided us, to one last time enjoy Jaime's beauty. He was so amazing on the virtual call....and almost stole the 'who knows Ange the best' game from Mom lol. Yet another funny memory with Jaime. Hold that memory and know he will forever be present with us as a family, Laura

Jaime was the love of my life. He brought me joy each and every day of our two years together. We laughed often and loved to spend time together with my daughter Ila, telling stories, sharing a meal together and laughing as much as possible. I knew Jaime was special right from the start, and shared my feelings of joy and happiness with my closest friends and family. I have many amazing memories of Jaime, and they all bring a smile to my face. The last week has provided me with the opportunity to tell and reflect on those experiences together, and each and every time I smile and giggle....because Jaime always smiled and giggled...and it made everyone around him do the same. I have so much to say and yet am not able to express it right now. He is still with me each and every day, and watches over me and my daughter. We will meet again. Laura Pavilonis

His vision of a world where all belong, his research, his study was to create a better world. His kindness was contagious, a gentle soul he was . He also had a great sense of humour and was able to engage on many topics. We hold all who are in grief in prayers, we wish you strength to continue the journey without his physical presence. May his kindness and his gentle soul continue to inspire you. In the hope of the Resurrection, we pray.

Jaime’s mark was subtle but pervasive and this made him one of the most unique individuals I’ve ever met. This is because near as I could tell he wished the best for everyone around him. When he met someone new he assumed the best of them and treated them with genuine warmth rarely encountered. When someone needed help he volunteered asking nothing in return. He would walk by and give a friendly pat on the back and a warm smile when he could sense someone needed it and ask how their day was going. He was like a big brother checking in on you. How others felt seemed to be a perpetual consideration of his and it showed in nearly everything he did. Several times I encountered another venting their frustrations at him in a manner he didn’t deserve but when talking to him afterward he never spoke ill of them, never blamed them for anything regardless of how well deserved such blame was. He made it an effort to assume the best of everyone and treat them with the kindness, respect, and consideration that everyone should deserve regardless of their lapses or transgressions. When exposed to new experiences, especially when he was struggling, he pushed forward with a humble determination to make some positive experience out of it and do his best not to let his team mates down. Jaime brought a subtle sense of warmth, of family wherever he went and he will be missed.
