Surrounded by the love of her family, Laurretta passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 16, 2021. Cherished wife of Ladislaus (Lance) Bauer for 58 years. Loving and devoted mother of Angela and her late husband Joe Straus (2008), Stephan and Stephanie Bauer, and Theresa Bauer. Treasured by her 13 grandchildren: Jeff (Kim) Straus, Rachael (Craig) Armitage, Joel (Alanna) Straus, Greg (Alison) Straus, Caecilia (Grant) Arndt, Michael (Alyssa) Straus, Benjamin (Katelyn Jo), Anthony, Emily, Johnathan and Daniel Bauer, Danielle and Brandon Schaefer, and 19 great-grandchildren: Abigail, Caitlin, Connor, Kyra, Kayla, Kati, Kayden, Naomi, Thea, Joseph, Jemma, Eleanor, Gabriel, William, Jack, Nicholas, Ryker, Lucy and Rose. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion for her family.

 

She will be sadly missed by her brothers- and sisters-in-law in Germany: Josef (Maria, 2003), Arnold and Ursula, and Anton. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Germany, Austria, and in Michigan.

 

Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helen Schelhas, and sister and brother-in-law Laurraine and Doug Ottmann.  

 

Laurretta’s life was devoted to her family, faith, and friends.

 

She was a long-time member of St. Agatha RC Church where she served as a lecturer, commentator, eucharistic minister, choir member, and member of the CWL. She was also a long-serving member of the Carmel of St. Joseph Guild.

 

The family would like to thank the LHIN for their exceptional and compassionate care over the past few months which enabled us to keep mom at home.

 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Laurretta's life and faith will be private.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 5 p.m., with Father George Nowak, C.R. officiating. A private family graveside service will follow the mass. Family and friends are invited to view the livestream and recording of the mass and graveside service at www.erbgood.com
