I have known Sue since we were students at Sir Edgar Bauer. Sue was the kindest and most down-to-earth person you could ever meet. Over the years, we would bump into each other in the community and I always enjoyed our conversations and good laughs. Sue made an impact on all who knew her. Mr. and Mrs. Baron- my heart is broken for you. You have been, and will continue to be, in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Baron, Chris, Rosemarie and Claire,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sue. Some of us “old-timers” often reminisce about days gone by, and the special people that entered the doors of Emmanuel. Sue was extra special, calling Emmanuel ‘home’ while donning many hats...first daughter of our very own Mrs. Baron, then colleague, then most importantly, mother to those beautiful Emmanuel girls, Rosemarie and Claire.
We remember her smile, her caring spirit, her big boisterous laugh, and her no-nonsense way. As I was speaking to my husband about Sue, he Immediately said “Oh I remember Sue, she was funny and sarcastic in ALL the right ways!”
She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Thinking of you with love and sincerity,
Lori Mar, on behalf of
Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre

Sue was a fiercely protective and loyal friend in high school. She had a golden heart and a ready grin, always kind and fun and social. She was the mother hen in our group, if anyone drank too much, Sue would make sure they got tucked safely into bed and tied their hair back in case they were going to be sick. She was absolute sweetness and generosity with so much nurturing and love to give. I can only imagine how much that love multiplied when she had her girls. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope it gives you some peace to remember that, though many of us fear Judgment Day, I imagine Sue was met with congratulations on a near flawless journey. There isn’t a soul I know who has anything but fond memories and glowing things to say about Sue. I hope you got the shiniest halo my friend...

I received the news of Sue’s passing with a heavy heart and, though my fondest memories are from our friendship at St. David’s, any time our lives crossed paths Sue was the same bright soul with a beautiful laugh, wide grin and positive energy. I am so sorry for your loss.

My Friend Sue
You and I, we shared a great friendship. When I first met you, we shared lunch at Jack’s and our love for the beach. We laughed a lot – a lot! and we cried, too.
And you let me in. You made it natural to share your heart.
Your determination was relentless. You worked hard at trying to walk with a prosthetic leg, determined to walk into church on Easter morning. You learned quickly how to operate your motorized wheelchair with one hand. Your attitude was, “if this is how it is, then so be it!”
You wanted to stay as independent as possible and remain the person you were.
So often you commented to me, “Jane, I’ve lost my leg, not my mind.” It was true.
While going through so much physically, you recognized that something needed attention in your spirit. You needed to surrender your life to the creator of your life. God was patiently waiting for this realization and he responded with open arms to your cry. He shone light into the darkness. He showed his love, his mercy and his incredible healing to the brokenness of your heart. He came to cherish you as was his intention from the very start.
And you let him in. You made it natural to share your heart.
When you saw the light of God’s presence, you went out of your way to share it with your friends at Barnswallow Place. You encouraged them, you valued them, you loved them.
Now you’ve reached the greatest place of all. You are home, with Jesus!
There is no more suffering, no more loneliness, no more darkness.
You are completely surrounded by light and life! That’s Jesus!
I am so delighted for you!
and believe me…I’m planning to join you!
Love you my friend Sue,
Jane (and Stewbie-Doo) Shantz

I was blessed to have met Sue when she came to stay at my place of work, St. Jacobs Place. I was amazed that somebody could be so positive and kind after everything she had endured. She had a smile or a joke for everyone, no matter what she was going through. We became friends and kept in contact after she moved. I spoke with her briefly last week. When I asked her how she was doing, she gave me a fast update on her health, and as always, said she was good. Then she asked how my son was doing. She was so very strong and strove to see the bright side of things more than anyone I have ever met. Sue was a great inspiration to me. A true example that no matter how dark things get, we can choose to see the good in life if we really try. She will be greatly missed by many. My sincere condolences to her family. Sue spoke of her beloved daughters often.
