Obituary of Mary MacTavish
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary MacTavish of Waterloo announces her death on Saturday, May 15, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final days.
She leaves her son Bob (Christine), daughter Heather Farris (Steven), and much-loved grandchildren Sam (Stephanie), Jake (Laura), Kate and Robbie.
Predeceased by her husband, Donald MacTavish in 1996, her sister Joan Dixon in 2009, and partner Don Robb in 2020.
Mary was born and raised in Toronto. She graduated from the University of Toronto, and moved to Waterloo to teach at K.C.I. Her enthusiasm for sports (golf, curling and badminton) and social events (especially bridge) led to the formation of strong life-long friends she met at both the Granite Club and Westmount Golf Club.
Mary cherished times with family and friends: special occasions with the MacTavishes and Dixons, cottage time on Lake Simcoe at “Rockhaven” and the regular get togethers on Lourdes Crescent. Her generosity, forth-right honesty, humility, sense of humour, fun-loving spirit and devotion to both family and friends were inspiring qualities that will always be remembered.
A private family service will be held in Waterloo. Condolences may be left at www.erbgood.com. The family is very grateful to the nursing staff and PSWs of Sunnyside Home for their care and kindness. In honour of Mary’s memory, donations to the Sunnyside Foundation or the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington would be appreciated and may be arranged by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
