Victor Hiebert posted a condolence

Hello Paul Jordan,
I am Vic Hiebert and I first got to know your dad, Bob Jordan when I joined the City of Waterloo Engineering Dept. as a Clerk-Draftsman. I was hired by Darcy Dutton, City Engineer but worked directly under Bob. That was the fall of 1956. I found Bob to be a very pleasant and down to earth person. I remember when he bought a lot on Loon Lake for a cottage. A few years later he invited my wife, and myself to visit this Muskoka dream. We had a lovely time swimming, boating, sailing and touring the area. Bob also gave us 4 or 5 evergreen trees to take to our Chelford Cr home. They are now about 50 feet tall.
My wife Alyce passed away two years ago and just 3 months ago my daughter Cheryl passed. So I can empathize with Bob having lost Cathy. It was unfortunate that I didn't have an address when Bob moved north and I lost track of him. And had I know that he was back at Westmount LTC I would certainly have visited him and had a chat.
My deepest sympathies,
From a long time friend,
Victor

Mr. Jordan was my science teacher for at least two years between 1969 and 1974. I don’t have a clear recollection of all my high school teachers, but Mr. Jordan left an indelible impression on me as a teacher who really was laid back, kind, positive, approachable and genuinely interested in students. The obituary provides a little window of insight into aspects of his life i didn't know. I was sad to learn of his passing; but in his memory I will take it as another useful science lesson– evidence that genetics plays only a small part in longevity -- that it has a lot more to do with engagement, embracing different careers and interests, and being gentle, positive and welcoming.
Thank-you Mr. Jordan!

I did most a message but not sure if it got through.
Allan joins me in remembering your Dad. He lived a very long life and you will miss him even as you are grateful that he is at peace.
All our family remembers leaving their bikes at your parent's place!
Allan is retired and living in Sarnia, near one of his sons. They bought an older house and fixed it up but not sure that they will do that again.
Please pass along our condolences to all your family.

Our sympathy on the passing of uncle Bob. We have great memories of visiting at Loon Lake. He amazed our kids as he fed chipmunks out of his shirt pocket. They all wanted a pet chipmunk after that.
Treasure the memories!!! Condolences to ALL at this time. Sincerely Peter & Tammy and also Wally Moir ❤️
