Val passed away, with family by his side, at the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the age of 72.

Val is lovingly remembered by his daughter Julie Gauvin (Jose), son Wayne Gauvin (Siobhan), grandchildren Brendan, Isabella, Noah, Kaileigh, Aidan, and Hannah, and former wife Helen Gauvin.

He was predeceased by his second wife Rita Leger, parents Philip Leger and Melanie Niles, brother Victor Gauvin, and sister Elva Niles.

Val retired from Compx Waterloo after many years of service. He was hard-working, loving, devoted, and was an amazing father. He stayed strong and fought to the very end.
