MARTIN-BERGER, Glady Jane.
Passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Berger for 14 years. She will be sadly missed and remembered by her cherished son Jeff and wife Michele, her son-in-law, Stephen (Morag) Costello, and step-son Paul (Christine) Berger. Glady was a special Grandma who loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, Danielle, Jordan, and Spencer Martin, and Thomas and Brendan Costello and her step-grandchildren, Erica Peever and Jacob Costello, also John (Gina) and Eric (Tess) Dermody. Glady is survived by sisters, Rita (Ted) MacLean, Mary Ament as well as sister-in-law Mildred Martin. Glady will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and by her several friends.
Predeceased by her dear late husband, Gus (1985), her precious daughter Jane (2003) and her brother Rev. Arthur Busch (2014), her sisters Grace (2017) and Anne (1999) and in-laws Jerry Huber, Jerome Strauss, and Glen Ament. Also predeceased by in-laws, David Martin and Margaret Reddy of Newfoundland, Patrick (Lizzie), James (Joyce), Frank and Andrew (Theresa) Martin, Mary Moser, Helen (Bert) Hoyland and Elizabeth Tapper.
After 42 years of employment using her accounting skills with various small companies, Glady retired in February 1995. She enjoyed her retirement years volunteering at the Grand River Hospital for 29 years, as Treasurer of several community charities over the years, and working with the community Income Tax Services. She also enjoyed travelling, live theatre, dancing, cards and dining out with her many lady friends. Glady loved time spent playing with the grandchildren.
Glady spend the last 3 years of her life at Clair Hills Retirement Community where she made some new friends. Thank you to the staff of Clair Hills who took care of her over the last years of her life.
Relatives and friends will be received at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 10am - 12pm. Those wishing to attend the visitation are asked to RSVP through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or by calling 519-745-8445. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Grand River Hospital Mental Health Unit and the Women’s Crisis Centre of Waterloo Region.
