Obituary of Dr. Thambirajah Singarajah

Dr. Thambirajah Singarajah went to be with the Lord Jesus, surrounded by the love of family, at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the blessed age of 94.

He was born in Nunavil West, Chavakachcheri and lived in Sri Lanka and Waterloo, Canada. Loving Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thambirajah, loving Husband of Nesammah, Son-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thamboo, Father of the late Selvi, Rajan, Raji, Selvyn, Raj and Shyamalee, and Father-in-law of Clara, Kirupananthan, Rohini, Thayalini, and Mani. Brother of the late Thavamany, the late Manoranjithamalar, the late Sunthararasa, the late Ponmany, the late Thurairajah, Ratnarajah (Canada), Ariyakunarajah (Sri Lanka) and the late Christabelle. Brother-in-law of the late Suppramaniam, the late Arulpiragasam, the late Rajeswari, the late Selvarasa, Lohini (Canada), Ratnamal (Sri Lanka), the late Selvanayagam, the late Jeyaratanam, the late Emily, the late Rev. Sam Thamboo, the late Jeyapakiyam, the late Gnamma, the late James Thamboo, and Thavamani. Beloved Grandfather of Roger (Jayany), Shiromi (Surenthar), Christine (Pavithiran), Elvyn, Mirushigha, Jason, Jadon, Hamza and Dilukshan. Beloved Great-Grandfather of Aroosh, Nikhinth, Gavin, and Thriksha. Also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews around the world.

Dr. Thambirajah Singarajah retired as a Medical Practitioner in Sri Lanka and was the President of the Jaffna branch of the Red Cross International. He was also President of the Registered Medical Practitioners Union of Sri Lanka and served as a Sri Lankan Justice of Peace. He served in all these facets with utmost sincerity, honesty, and dedication.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, N2J 1P7 on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for family members and close friends. This will also be broadcasted on Zoom.

Visitation will continue for all at First Baptist Church, 306 Erb Street West, Waterloo, N2L 1W3 on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service to be held at the church at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Robert Snell officiating.

Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
