My wife Joan and I, met Jane and Desmond as they visited a couple who were in a Long Term Care center. Our shared experiences extended in our service with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Jane-Desmond from Saint Michael and Joan and I with Saint Mark. After I started serving Saint Michael in 2010, both would always stop for a conversation after Sunday mass. During Jane's battle with health she wrote to me of her very authentic, from the heart, struggle filled now with hope for her family. What a blessing for the community both are to our lives, as we recall their self-giving love for each other while taking the time to serve those in need. But more importantly to express this deep hope in their own family. A special place to be for any couple. Our prayers accompany the family in their loss, knowing the legacy left by both Jane and Desmond will console, forever. Mrs. Joan & Rev. Mr. Philip J Fernandez.

I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I had the privilege to get to know your dad's kindness at St. Michael Parish and also at University Gates where I distributed Communion on Sundays. Although his memory had faded Des remembered the meaning of the Sign of the Cross and was always ready to receive Communion. Des will be missed by many. My sincerest sympathy. Kathy Shaw
