Helen passed away peacefully at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 82.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Len Shantz in 2013, and her parents John and Mae Brox.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Susan Shantz, Jennifer Hobden (Douglas), and Carol Deutschlander (Carl), grandchildren Matt Hobden (Jessica), Drew Hobden (Julia Rombough), GG to Blake and Claire. Sister of Fred Brox and his wife Audrey. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Helen is also survived by her extended family Mick, Tracy, Lukas and Emma Affeldt, Doris Klip and family, Jack Weiner, the Metzger family, Shirley Schippling and family, Carole Ann Flemming, Abby Hartman, and Mom and Grandma Helen to so many more.

Thank you to the staff and students of 5D South at Grand River Hospital for the care, compassion and kindness you gave to Helen during her stay.

Her quilts will continue to provide warmth and comfort for the friends and family that she lovingly made them for.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, October 15, 2021 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. For those not attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed and a link will be available at the top of Helen’s obituary page at www.erbgood.com
