Obituary of Alaric McQueen Clark
Died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Lisaard House, Cambridge, on Tuesday October 26, 2021, at the age of 52. Cherished husband of Jennifer Cumberland for 22 years and loving father of Ella. Beloved son of Robert Burns Clark and the late Evangeline H. Clark. Dear son-in-law of Maureen Cumberland and the late John Cumberland. Devoted brother of Eden Coblenz (Martin) and Greta Clark. Will be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Pamela Rands (Mark), nephew Evan Coblenz, and so many extended family, friends and work colleagues. Faithful companion to family dogs, Bella and Bobby.
Alaric was born in North Carolina, moved to California in 1973, and then moved to Canada in 1999 settling in Kitchener-Waterloo. Alaric worked for 15 years on the GIS team as a GIS Analyst/Programmer at Oxford County. Alaric had a kind, compassionate, courageous, fun, and adventuresome spirit. He loved the outdoors whether it was surfing in California, hiking in the mountains, exploring the sand dunes in the desert, camping at the Provincial Parks, canoeing at the lake, or walking along the Grand River.
Alaric's family wishes to express their deep and profound gratitude for all the wonderful care Alaric received from all the team members at the Grand River Hospital Regional Cancer Centre during the past twenty-six months. We would also like to thank all the team members at Lisaard House Hospice for the compassionate care that they provided to Alaric and his family during his final days. Thank you as well to Vanessa, the Home and Community Care Partner Nurse who supported Alaric throughout his illness. Words alone do not express how much we appreciate all that has been done, by so many people, to support our family.
If you choose to remember Alaric with a charitable donation, Alaric's family would like to suggest donations to The Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Office of Innovation and Research at Grand River Hospital specifically to support Cancer research projects, and the Lisaard House Hospice to support resident care or grief programming for children and youth. Condolences for the family and donations may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
In accordance with Alaric's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Alaric's life and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
