Margaret Ruby went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Parkwood Mennonite Home at the age of 95. She was born in New Hamburg on October 26, 1926, daughter of the late Emanuel and Clara Ann Gerber.
Margaret was the beloved wife to Roy Ruby. They were married on June 10, 1950 and Roy predeceased her on November 2, 2006. She is remembered with much love by her children, Peggy and Wilbur Roth, Grant and Paulette Ruby, Nancy and Rick Martin. She is dearly missed by her grandchildren Melissa and Luke Potwarka, Jeremy Roth and Chanel Cressman, Chris and Olivia Ruby, Steve Ruby and Crystal Arnold, Shelley Martin, Stephanie and Brian Rempel and great grandchildren Evelyn and Ethan Potwarka, Harlen Cressman Roth, Parker, Griffin and Carson Ruby, Micah and Manya Rempel. She is mourned by her brother Howard and Ada Gerber, sisters Ellen Leis, Audrey and Harold Bender, Carol and Irvin Wagler, sister-in-law Jean Roth, and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was also predeceased by her great grandsons Ira Roy Cressman Roth and still-born baby “Tiki” Cressman Roth, brothers, sisters and spouses, Calvin and Marion Gerber, Willard and Gladys Gerber, Beulah and Henry Ruby, Inez and Oliver Ramseyer, Helen and Lester and Nancy Yantzi; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Elton Leis, Wilfred Roth, Wilfred and Vivian Steinman.
She was a member at First Mennonite Church, Kitchener where she was actively involved in the Women’s Ministry and Service Committee and she shared her gifts of cooking and baking through many potluck dinners and funeral lunches. Margaret was also an avid sewer, knitter and quilter. Her family was her passion and she spent many hours caring for and spoiling her grandchildren. Even in her final days she was expressing her concern for all of us whether it was making sure we had breakfast before coming to be with her or wondering how the grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing.
Special thanks to the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home, especially the wonderful staff in Snyder’s Corner. Your care and compassion for her was remarkable and we are so grateful that she was able to make her home there for the past 4 months.
