Obituary of Katherine Anne Biefer

Katherine Anne Biefer, a longtime Waterloo resident, passed away on December 26, 2021.

 

Loving sister of Martin Biefer (Laura) of Nepean, Ontario. Beloved aunt of Kristin Biefer (Chris Miller) of Whitby, and great-aunt of Felicity Miller. Beloved cousin of Susan Fennell (John) and Donald Biefer of Brampton, Ontario. She will be missed by Martin’s stepson Jason and Jason’s daughter Olivia-Rose.

 

Predeceased by her parents, Dr. Gregory James Biefer and Beryl Beverley Biefer, both of Nepean, Ontario.

 

Born in Virginia, Katherine grew up in the Ottawa area, later living in Toronto and Kingston. She graduated from the University of Waterloo in the late 1980s and spent the rest of her life in Waterloo. An IT professional, she worked for a time at a local life insurance company and several other IT firms in the city. She was active in environmental and political causes, was a lover of all things astronomical, a music lover and a lifelong fan of science fiction.

Following cremation in Waterloo, a Celebration of Life for family members will be held at a later date in Nepean. Katherine will be buried with her parents in Saint John, New Brunswick.
