Shelagh and siblings, your mum was a special person. She made me feel not only welcome in your home, but also special, like there was something to me that she wanted to hear about. How she held together your family was something of sheer amazement. All the comings and goings of people, and everyone with their own opinion and agenda, and Kay carried on! May she be at Peace. Her soul, and all of you, are in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings and Love xx

It is with deep sadness that I heard of your dear Mother's passing. I was able to have a short visit with her at Winston Park before COVID hit. She was friendly as always and happy during my visit. It was always a delight to see her attending Mass at St. Francis and to have a short chat. Kay lived a long and wonderful life surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I'm sure she is having a great time catching up with Jack and her parents.
Please accept our most heartfelt condolences for your loss. She was one in a million.

We send our condolences to all of the Sweeney family at this time. We knew Kay for many years. We remember as a newly wedded couple of going to Port Burwell Retreat Centre for a Marriage Encounter about 50 years ago and we discovered on arriving that it was your mother and father who were the married couple that was facilitating the group experience. John was Gerry's inspector and superintendent during the 60's and 70's when Gerry taught at St. Jerome's High School. We did enjoy a conversation with Kay most recently at Winston Park where our aunt resides. We are praying for you and your wonderful mother. May God give her peace and new experiences of God's Love.
Quietly and gently may God's Love and Peace fill your hearts with Joy and Hope during these difficult days, weeks and months. With our love, we are making a donation in Kay's memory to St. Mary's General Hospital, Gerry and Pat Grundy

We wish to send our sincere condolences to the Sweeney family on the death of your lovely mother and grandmother. Kay was a wonderful, friendly and fun-filled lady and we had the good fortune of sharing many a table with herself and John at several St. Jerome’s events during our early days in KW. John was chancellor of SJU when Kieran assumed the role of VPAD in 1999, and through that we got to know John and Kay. The beautiful tribute written about Kay shows a life well lived. May she Rest In Peace.

Dear members of the Sweeney family,
It was with sadness that I heard the news of the passing of dear Kay. I have many happy memories of Kay and John, during my years at St. Francis of Assisi Parish. I especially remember some beautiful Masses I celebrated in their home while John was ill, and the sharing we did during the homily, often accompanied by Sister Marie Taylor, S.S.N.D. Kay was a gentle and loving presence wherever she found herself, with a bright smile and a joy of sharing life and love. She and John were never a couple who drew attention to themselves, but contributed so much to so many projects and causes, Catholic and civic. Their presence 'graced' so many events and get togethers, that deeply impressed people with the quality of life they possessed and shared. I will pray for Kay, and for all of you, that the consolation and peace of the resurrection of Jesus will be yours. God bless you all!

To the entire Sweeney family, my heart, prayers and love are sent to each of you at this difficult time. May peace and love fill your hearts, soul and mind, as you recall the memories of your Mom.
Your Mom, Kay, was a wonderful women who shared many parts of herself. I remember I would take my mom over to see Kay, even when the alzheimers started to affect my mom, Kay would invite us in and talk to mom like old times and get mom laughing. I truly appreciated that. Kay embraced all my family in one way or another. I felt extremely blessed that she always took time for me, we would have long talks and lots of laughs. I am sorry during covid we did not make contact. Kay was much loved, will be truly missed and often be thought off.
The celebration of Kay's life, I am sure will be filled with laughter, fun, tears and a great amount of love.
Thinking of the entire Sweeney family.
Love sent from Peggy (McEvoy) Marlatt

To the Sweeney Family , from the Misener’s across the street on Shadywood. Jack and Kay were wonderful hosts of all of us neighbour children and the Sweeney home was a central hub to the whole neighbourhood ... Kay would be beaming with her broad smile and fine aromas of food and cookies emanating from her kitchen. And their pool was always open to us to join in the fun ! And when you walked through the breezeway it was a few steps up the the kitchen and that was where you often saw Kay ( Mrs. Sweeney , of course ! ) like she was lovingly watching down to her flock from just a little higher .. the Sweeney home was perpetually abuzz with fun things going on and Kay and Jack were always welcoming to all . On behalf of all of our family to all of yours , Warmest thoughts and love, Steven Misener

My dear friend Eileen and the whole Sweeney clan ~ my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beautiful mother that meant so much to so many. I loved being invited to join the "chaos" and remember sitting at the Shadywood kitchen table many times while Mrs. Sweeney ran the show. I marvelled at how she could give every visitor special attention let alone remember all of their names! She too was fortunate to always be surrounded with family, friends and much admiration for her lively spirit. I can picture your parents together always with such humour and share in the image of them reuniting. May God bless all of you as you let her go ... Anne Marie (Sehl) Hammer
