So sorry to hear of Art's passing. We were neighbours for many years on Osprey road. Our families were regulars over new years at wigamog. My mother always said breakfast on new year's day was such a treat sitting with both art and Joan . First time on a snowmobile back in the early days! Our friend Brad Holman was the ski instructor and boat boy! Loved sitting with both of them at our Hospital Auxiliary annual dinner too. A huge part of our community and a larger than life presence.. Thank you for those kind words and sentiments. Osprey was a special place with great people all around. Lots of great stories with historical significance far beyond Haliburton as I understand it. A&J would have preferred to have spent all of their final years there had the Cdn Shield not made it so difficult to navigate! Kimberley may even remember me bicycling from Wigamog all the way down that 'lane' to visit her at Camp Allsaw - she would have been the tender age of about 12 or 13 :)

Bridge night was always a favorite of mom & dad’s at the lodge as was celebrating birthdays. After all owning a resort is a good reason to have lots of parties and dad loved a party. I apologize for not finding one of everyone but here are a few.

Dear Joan, Kim and Family, We would like to extend our sympathies for the loss of your dear husband, father and grandfather. It was our honour to have known Art through Resorts Ontario and our many lively meetings throughout the "good old days". Art was truly a leader in the Resort industry. You will all certainly miss him. We share in the image of Art being welcomed by old friends who have gone before him. Thank you Jake & Anne Marie. Those "Resort Ontario conferences were one of a kind! Such a wonderful industry where all the owners were such good, life long friends.

Thank you Jake and Anne Marie - you were certainly pioneers yourself in the same industry with all of the same risks, rewards and challenges at the end as ubiquitous air travel ravaged the Ontario Tourism sector. It was the treasured friendships and common decorum of goodness that made it all worthwhile for dad. His example will be missed but not soon forgotten. Be well and thank you for your most kind comments. They help us remember the goodness that was 'dad'.

Thank you Mia, Paul was especially good to dad in his final days, picking him at Castle Peak to attend Rotary even when the dementia had set in.
