Obituary of Robert (Bob) Dick
Passed away December 21, 2021 in his 78th year at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandra, his sisters, Patricia Scarrow, Donna Oliver, Cathy Lymburner, and his two special nephews, Jeremiah Sommer and Noah Sommer. Predeceased by his parents, John and Jean Dick of Fergus, Ontario. Bob leaves behind many extended family members and good friends.
Throughout his lifetime, Bob pursued many interests and activities. He painted, loved music, was an avid reader of history, hiked the Bruce Trail three times over as well as many other trails, camped and canoed rivers throughout Ontario, and car toured across Canada and the US. He had an amazing and unique sense of direction and could find his way to and from any location even before the GPS era.
After retiring from many years with W.C. Wood Company in Guelph, Bob pursued many of the activities that he enjoyed most. He continued to play the violin, led canoe, bike and hike outings with the Old Salts Seniors Canoe Club, and travelled with Sandra to various destinations in the U.K. and Europe.
Bob showed his strong fortitude throughout his six year battle with cancer. Special thanks and gratitude to his ParaMed nurse, Sonja, for her professional caring support and friendship for the past two years. Sonja’s constant encouragement and compassion during this time is greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a future date in the Spring.
