Mom appreciated the love and care so many people gave her over the years.

The compassion and the medical assistance that was given by Dr T Boyrs and Dr Yew, allowed Mom to stay in her home fulfilling her wishes. Mom’s neighbours who assisted with lawn care, snow blowing and just keeping watch helped her maintain her home.

Many organizations also supported her including ProResp, Community Care Concepts, Paramed, and Waterloo Wellington LHIN. Without all these special people who were part of her health care, our mother would not have been able to stay in her home and have the quality of life she had. But more importantly, knowing mom was getting daily care allowed us as a family to know she was safe in her home where she wanted to stay.

Thank you to her granddaughter Julia who especially in the last few weeks gave mom companionship and homecare. Mom also had many friends who sent cards, called, visited especially when she could not get out into the community like she used to.

Mom loved to read. The ladies at the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church Library, Linda Darkes and Lynn Weiss at the New Dundee library selected and delivered books for our mom. Mom also knitted squares for the New Dundee Prayer Blanket Ministry in the community.

She was a Life and Honourary member of the New Dundee Women's Institute for almost 63 years contributing in many facets of the organization. She belonged to BWM at the Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, was a 4H Leader, catered with Dad, Gladys Cressman and Clayton for years, a member and participant of the New Hamburg Fair Board as well as competing in many regional fairs in homemaking categories. She babysat children and assisted others when in need.

Mom had many talents which she shared with our family but also with others. But most of all, she loved us. Mom and Dad worked hard all their lives and it was for us that they did this. Knowing that we were cared for and loved made us as her family feel secure and special.

Mom, you are loved and missed. Thank you being the person you were, giving and teaching with love.
