Obituary of Clarice "Denise" Munroe

(nee Sayer)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Denise Munroe announces her passing on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the age of 90.

Beloved wife of Gerald Munroe who predeceased her in 2010. Denise will be lovingly missed by her five children: Deborah (Ted); Shaun (Sharon); Alison (Rick); Janice; Gregory (Marisa). Proud Gramma to 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Denise will also be missed by her brother Gerald Sayer (Gisele); sister-in-law Beverly Edwards; ten nieces and nephews; as well as many friends, life long and new.

Denise, a dedicated mother, raised her five children in St. Bruno, Quebec before moving with her husband Gerald to Kitchener-Waterloo. Denise was gifted with the love for music and the talent of singing. She would never miss an opportunity to share her musical talents, grab a microphone and sing for a crowd. One of her honourable moments was being flown to Nova Scotia airbase on a military bomber to perform in a concert for the military troops. “It was all an experience!”

Traveling, gardening, flower arranging, playing bridge, curling, attending her grandson's hockey games, were just a few of her favourite pastimes. Denise and Gerald especially enjoyed their favourite places. The cottage on Green Lake and special times with their friends from St. Bruno. They traveled annually to the Cayman Islands and always looked forward to sunshine, swims, and walks on the beach. Denise loved the amazing sunsets with friends and her favourite cocktail: Gin and Tonic.

Mom, you are now “Over the Rainbow, Way up High, Where the Bluebirds Fly”. You are loved and you will be missed.

On behalf of Denise’s children, we send a Special thank you to Dr. Anil Chettimada, Dr. Murray Pearce, and the amazing staff at Grand River and St. Mary’s Hospitals for their ongoing support and wonderful care for our mother Denise.

Due to public restrictions, a celebration of Denise’s life will follow later this year.
