Gerlinde passed away suddenly in her home on January 28, 2022, in Stratford, ON after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her son Kirk Laurin (Tara Lane); her daughter Nicole Laurin (Stephen Ward); her sister Elizabeth Peters (Andrew); her brothers Richard Hanek (Suzanne) and Eric Hanek; Nana G to grandson Alex Lane; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Katharine and Michael Hanek.

Gerlinde was a hardworking, kind, strong, and independent woman. She was the best mother, sister and friend who loved her family dearly. Over the last few years, she was able to travel to many places.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, ON, on Friday February 4, 2022, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel on Saturday February 5, 2022, at 10:30am. For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available at www.erbgood.com.
