Obituary of Zoltan Szeghalmi

Zoli passed away in hospital after suffering a sudden heart attack near his home. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Julia Szeghalmi (nee Gyurcovic).

Zoltan is survived by his children Steve, Sue (Kervin), Kathy (Greg), his grandchildren Chris (Carissa), KJ, Owen and Emily and great grandchildren Sundiata, Sanai and Sade. He was a loving, dedicated, supportive father and grandfather who loved his family and enjoyed life. He will be missed by his friends at the LA Fitness and prior where he was a longstanding fitness member for over 50 years and into his 80's.  He made it a priority to stay active throughout his life.

Zoli emigrated from Hungary in 1956 and was proud to a Canadian- "the greatest country in the world". Zoli valued hard work and retired from Budd Automotive after 25 years and was able to enjoy a lengthy retirement. Zoli enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed watching soccer on his new 60" TV and was so excited to have an entire world open to him when learned to surf the internet, where he found his beloved Hungarian music. He had a deep love of music and was a talented musician who could pick up any instrument and begin to play, which he did daily.

Special thank you to the staff at Grand River Hospital for all of their support and assistance.

Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery at a later date.
