Perparim passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2022, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Elmira (Dishnica), daughters Ada (Adam) and Linda (Endri) and grandchildren Sofia, Ari, Oliver, and Anton.
He was born in a small village in Tepelene, Albania, but moved to the capital Tirana at a young age. He studied to be an electrical engineer at the Polytechnic University of Tirana and then worked for many years overseeing the building of high voltage transmission lines throughout Albania.
He immigrated to Canada with his family in 2001, first settling in Toronto, and then moving to Kitchener in 2010. In Canada, he was a skilled electrician and all-around handyman and always happy to help out his family and friends with home renovation projects.
He loved spending time with and indulging his grandchildren. His backyard became an adventure camp for them, boasting a tree house, zip line, fire pit, and climbing wall, all things he built with scrap materials he could spare from other projects. In his short retirement, he took up his passion of painting, spending countless hours painting at his dining table. In particular, he leaves his grandchildren with many paintings of animals and other nature scenes. He had a great sense of humour, making his family laugh until the last moments together.
Perparim’s family would like to thank his doctors and nurses and other staff at Grand River Hospital and the Grand River Cancer Centre for their care and dedication.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. To attend the visitation, please wear a face covering, observe physical distancing, and register (RSVP) by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
