Gordon Henry Roberts, affectionately known as Gordie and GG (Grand Gordie), passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Toronto, Ontario. Gordie was 95 years young.
Gordie was born in Toronto on March 10, 1926. He grew up in Toronto, moving to Montreal, Winnipeg, and later settling in Waterloo. He had a successful career at Uniroyal Goodrich for over 40 years, climbing the ranks to Vice President of Sales. Outside of work, he was an active golfer and loved spending time with family and friends at Westmount Golf & Country Club.
Gordie had the biggest, most joyful smile, was an easy laugh, and had the ability to make you feel like the most important person in any room when you were talking to him. He was a proud Canadian, a thoughtful businessman, an enthusiastic golfer, a loyal friend, and the most loving and generous family man you’d ever meet. He faced life’s challenges with eternal optimism and a will to live well and love more.
Gordie is survived by his loving wife Diane Roberts, his son-in-law and best friend Neil (Susan), and his adoring grandchildren, Andrew (Hillary), Kaitlin (Adil), and Christine (Evan), and his brother-in-law Dick (Martha), as well as his great grandchildren, Bennett, Conrad, and Estelle. He is welcomed in heaven by his parents, his brothers Dougie and Roy, his first wife Norma and his daughter, his sweetheart, Janice.
Gordie never failed to tell us, or show us, how much he loved us, and often enthusiastically said ‘good show!’ to express his delight. After almost 96 years, he left this world a better, sweeter place. We were so lucky. Good show, GG. We love you.
