TURNER, John Edward “Jack”
1937 – 2022
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Jack Turner at the age of 84. He passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Dear husband of Ruth Turner (nee Peebles) for over 62 years, married October 3, 1959. Loving father to Kevin (Robin), Steven (Jody) and Carolyn (Murray Baker) and grandfather to Ethan, Emma and Xander. Survived by sisters-in-law Ruth Turner (Bob) and Alice Stead (Art) and remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Murray “Speck” and Mabel (nee Liebold) Turner and by his brother Don Turner.
Jack was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and moved to Waterloo at 2 years of age with his family and lived there for the rest of his life. At age 13, he joined Air Cadets and at age 18 he joined the Guelph Royalaires Drum Corps. Jack founded the Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum Corps in 1972 and served as Corps Director for many years. His working career included Dominion Life and the Waterloo Board of Education.
A private interment will take place at Memory Gardens. The Turner family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 5-8pm and on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 1pm until service in the funeral home chapel at 2pm. A reception will be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the Funeral Home.
