Obituary of Arthur (Art) Henry Kocher
With great sadness, we announce Art's peaceful passing, at the age of 89, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Art was born October 4, 1932.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Bertha Kocher, siblings Marguerite (Michael) Lennon, Carl (Elaine) Kocher.
Survived by his dearly loved wife of 67 years, Joan (nee Keller), brother Lavern (Betty) Kocher and his four daughters, Debra Kocher (Scott Embelton), Laurie Martin (Clare), Patti Fitton (Dave), and Leanne Rohr (Tim Laughlin), eight grandchildren, Nick, Christina, Alison, Sandra, Leah, Kylie, Sydney and Taylor, and eight great-grandchildren.
Art moved with his family to Waterloo from the farm near Hesson when he was 14 years old. He learned to be an expert car painter and eventually owned Northdale Auto Body. Art enjoyed the summers with family at the cottage on Chesley Lake, then later in Gobles Grove near Port Elgin.
Art was a quiet, sincere man, generous with his time and energy. He was talented in many skills including woodworking and he loved any type of game. He loved traveling the world with Joan and friends, and was an avid curler and bowler for many years. Art held a special fondness for his family and friends and was liked by all. The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff at University Gates (Emma’s Neighbourhood), and to the exceptional care team at Grand River Hospital.
