Obituary of Patricia Ann McCormick

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pat McCormick on April 3, 2022. She passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer.

Pat had many endearing qualities including her ability to brighten up a room with her friendly smile, quick wit and engaging and inspiring personality. However, most of all she will be remembered for her giving and loving nature towards her family, friends and everyone that came to know her. That same abundance of love and appreciation was apparent in her relationships with every member of her family. She also had a passion for music, playing bridge and a zest for life.

Everyone that knew Pat admired her energy, drive and her commitment to having fun. She grew up on the farm in Moorefield across the road from her future husband.  Pat was a very accomplished violin player earning her ARCT certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She competed across Ontario including the CNE and the Toronto Music Festival where she often won her division. She played violin for the Kitchener Waterloo symphony orchestra for 10 years and loved to perform.   She went on to pursue a career in teaching and taught for the Waterloo Region District School Board for over 30 years. Her students lovingly called her “Cookie”. Her passion for teaching music was always evident to all of her students and her family.  Pat also spent several years volunteering for the St. Mary’s hospital foundation.

Pat is predeceased by her parents Olive and Carman Dron. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Bob McCormick, daughter Lisa (Dana) Wells, son Greg (Andrea) McCormick, sister Deanna Oxby. She was the adored grandmother of Sammy Wells, Megan and Rachel McCormick. Pat will also be fondly remembered by many extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, April 7 from 2-4 p.m. & 7–9 p.m. A celebration of Pat’s life will take place at a later date.
