Passed away peacefully at Barnswallow Place Care Community, Elmira on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the age of 77. Loving husband of Linda (nee Weber) married for 50 years.

Beloved father of Murray (Teena) Snyder, Janet (Greg) Schwartzentruber, and Carol Snyder. Loving grandfather of Carter (fiancée Trinity Diamond) and Tanner Schwartzentruber, Samuel, and Emmett Snyder.

Will be forever remembered by his siblings Eunice (Thedor) Derowin, Miriam (Jack) Biernacki, Ruth Snyder, Paul (Marjorie) Snyder, Susan (Ron) Taniguchi, Grant (Bonnie) Snyder, Gloria (Alden) Gibson, and George (Heather) Snyder.

Predeceased by his parents Cleason and Mrytle (nee Weber) Snyder.

John was a longtime member of Bloomingdale Mennonite Church.  After John retired from farming, he enjoyed spending his time woodworking, taking care of the lawn and gardening. He volunteered at Woolwich Community Services Thrift Shop for many years. Testing electrical equipment, checking battery operated toys (playing with them) and collecting metal for recycling. His good nature and muscles were much appreciated when it came to moving boxes and bags when donations were piled to the ceiling. John also did a short stint with MDS repairing homes in Louisiana. Other volunteer jobs included helping Habitat for Humanity build in Jamaica, strawberry pie project for the New Hamburg Relief sale and road clean up. John enjoyed day trips, exploring Ontario Parks with his family, and cooking burgers on a small charcoal barbeque for us.

Special thanks to all the staff at Robins Grove, Barnswallow Place Community Care for all their care of support with John.

At the family’s request, to attend the visitation and service for John, personal face coverings are required.  Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Bloomingdale Mennonite Church, 1151 Snyders Flats Rd, Bloomingdale on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Zac Klassen officiating. Interment to immediately follow the service at Bloomingdale Mennonite Cemetery.
