Obituary of Thea Newton

Passed away peacefully on April 27^th, 2022.

Predeceased by her husband, Anton Newton. Survived by her children, Roselinda (Fred) Woodhall, Robert Newton, Harold Newton, Anton (Annie) Newton, Brigitte (Eduardo) Salina, Bernie (Barb) Newton and Isabell (Rick) MacIntyre. Grandchildren, Brittany Woodhall, Celeste Woodhall, Adele Newton, Chrissy Newton, Tanya Salina, Miguel Salina, Michelle Poissant, BJ Newton, Gorden MacIntyre and Corey MacIntyre. Great Grandchildren, Luca Angelino, Connor Poissant, Brigitte Poissant, Will Poissant, Madelyn Newton and Elliott Newton.

A lifetime, a legacy, 100 + years of a life lived with war, tragedy and triumph. With an open heart and a spirit that would be hard to find, she worked tirelessly to support her seven children after the passing of her husband. She was larger than life with her strong will, yet gentle with all that she touched. Her passions were her grandchildren and gardening and she nurtured both making them and the world a better and more beautiful place. Not a creature on this earth didn’t love her and she them. 

A special note from grandchildren; Ohma, never fell short of sharing her amazing stories over her lifetime. Each story she shared was like receiving a special trinket from her past. On the outside she was a socks and sandals wearer, sugar in her beer and probably in some sort of floral outfit that made her shine. On the inside she was a woman of strength, but with the kindest heart. Ohma was the heart of the family and the legacy is one that we’ll all hold with us every day.

Special thanks to all the staff at Innisfree, that created a caring and loving environment for our Mom and her visitors in her final days.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, May 3 from 12 – 2 p.m.  The service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, May 3 at 2 p.m.
