Obituary of Marlene June "Dolly" Oswald

(née Geisel)

March 18, 1931 – May 4, 2022

Dolly passed away peacefully at the Chartwell Westmount Long Term Care, Kitchener, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in her 92nd year.

Dolly was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Kenneth Oswald. Loving mother to children, James (Janet Stinson), Jane, Robert (Jennifer Clayfield), David (Barbara), and Bill (Lisa Sali-Oswald); grandchildren, Madeleine, Hailey (Curtis Nurvo), Margaret, Nicholas, Carter, and Sam; great-grandson, Henry; and sisters, Carol Schnepf (Sig), Judy Taylor (Greg), and Bernie Dezell  (the late Nigel). Dolly will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews, members of the Geisel and Oswald families, her brother Pete’s surviving wife Darlene, brother-in-law John Oswald (Shirley), friends, and neighbours.

Dolly was predeceased by her parents, John Geisel and Celestine Lehman, brothers Robert (Maxine), Doug (Theresa), Jack (Joyce), Charles (Gerry), and Pete, and sisters-in-law Mae Kubu (Ed), and Jean Piper (Roy).

Dolly was a fantastic, loving, thoughtful, and caring mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her exceptional baking skills, especially butter tarts, raspberry tarts, and elderberry pies.

Dolly’s family would like to acknowledge the staff of Chartwell Westmount for their outstanding and compassionate care. Special thanks to Dolly’s sister Carol for being at her side during the last few moments of her journey.

Dolly’s family has honoured her request for cremation and no formal visitation or memorial service. A committal service for family and friends to honour the lives of both Dolly and her beloved husband Ken will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo at a future date.
