Obituary of Jane Young Hamilton
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jane Young Hamilton on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, following a long battle with cancer.
Jane was born in Sainte Anne De Bellevue, Quebec, on April 6, 1958 to Jim and Diane Ereaux. Sister to Beth, John, and Trish. Jane was the beloved wife of Derek Hamilton and mother to Carly Hamilton. Jane was a friend to many, cherished aunt and sister-in-law, as well as an accomplished Artist.
As an artist, Jane explored her feelings and emotions through colour and texture. After the tragic loss of Jane and Derek's daughter, Carly, in 2010, Carly became Jane's inspiration and muse. Jane's works reflect the continuing story of their relationship. Jane's art hangs throughout her community and beyond, including her donations to Grand River Hospital Foundation, HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre, Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate, Lutherwood Children's Mental Health Centre, and Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
Jane was a kind and generous person with a warm smile and infectious laugh. She always showed a keen interest in others and made those around her feel special. Jane treasured summers at the cottage on Lake Mazinaw, vacations to St. Martin, travel, and time in her home and studio in Waterloo. Jane loved her family and friends and worked hard to add colour into the lives of those she touched.
According to Jane’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
