Obituary of Harold Bolt
June 13, 1938 - May 13, 2022
It is with sadness that the family of Harold Bolt announce the news of his passing. Harold passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on May 13, 2022, just one month before his 84th birthday.
Predeceased by his parents, Harold Sr., and Grace, and his three sisters Florence, Mary Ann, and Helen.
Harold leaves behind Johanna, his wife of 58 years, and their three daughters Elizabeth (Ben), Mary Ann (Paul) and Christina. He also leaves five granddaughters, Katherine (Steven), Sophia, Olivia, Lucy, and Charlotte.
Harold was an avid outdoorsman and loved archeology. Not one for small talk or material things, you could always count on finding Harold hunting in a field, fishing on a lake, or spending time in his vegetable garden. He was a first-class storyteller with a seemingly endless knowledge of birds, wildlife, and random trivia, and enjoyed chatting with and sharing his insights with friends and neighbours.
He was a member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge, Waterloo County Shrine Club, and Royal City Lodge of Perfection.
As expressions of sympathy, the family asks that you do something kind for a neighbour, and then take a day for yourself to go fishing.
We would also like to thank the nursing staff at Grand River Hospital for their exceptional care and empathy, and for helping everyone feel as comfortable as possible at this very difficult time.
At Harold’s request, there will be no funeral - because he has simply “gone fishin’”.
