To the Leahy Family
Sincere sympathy is sent to the entire family in the loss of a great and wonderful man.
My mother known as Mrs Mary Lee during her career as a registered nurse at the Wingham Hospital, had a special spot in her heart for Dr. Leahy. The two bonded over the many years working together and shared personal stories. Mom tried to have Dr. Leahy call her, Mary, but he did not waiver, and always greeted Mom at work or socially, as Mrs. Lee. Mom was delighted to visit with Dr. Leahy when he lived in Waterloo. The day of Mom's 80th birthday celebration (Mom is now 90), she spied Dr. Leahy coming in the door at the open house at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Wingham, and Mom broke into the biggest smile! The two embraced and had a little visit before Dr. Leahy was on his way. Dr. Leahy's kindness was evident and my mother always spoke of him with such respect. Mom is now living at Huronview and asked me to write this message.
We are thinking of each and every one of Dr. Leahy's family and friends, who will dearly miss him.

In a recent personal letter from Phil, he shared his experience with sadness at the loss of his dear wife & my sister, Theresa
After 17 years without her we trust that the Lord has granted his wish to be re-united. One could not hope for a better Brother-In Law. Phii was truly masterful in many ways-- his medical profession-his ability to entertain us with his skill as a musician (just to mention a few) Many wonderful memories surface at this time .Pleas accept our condolences. thoughts & prayers

To Dr. Leahy’s Family, I am saddened to hear of the loss of this amazing man. I met him in the 70’s when I began my nursing career at Wingham hospital. He was so humble and kind and treated nurses with such respect. I learned a lot from him, especially how to just be kind. Treasure your memories, I sure do and wish we had more men and doctors like him. RIP Dr. Leahy. Sincerely, Jeannette King(McDonald)

I met Dr Phil at St Mike’s ‘after mass coffee group’ when I joined St Michael’s Parish Waterloo. What a lovely man…full of life and laughter…always having an interesting response to discussions with a glint in his eye…to prompt more discussion!! Always inquiring about my grandsons…wondering what sports they were into and how they were doing. He was one in a million. I will miss him.
Sending love and sympathy to the Leahy family.
Fondly
Bonnie Hough

My deepest condolences to the Leahy family. I thought the world of your Dad. ( He was my childhood family doctor and he and your Mom were good friends of my parents.) He was always happy and entertaining. I remember countless card games with “the men” Sunday nights. Mom said he would stop in to see our sister Ann on his way to the hospital as she was often sick as a child.
I know you will all miss him dearly but I believe he is reunited with your Mom, his siblings, friends and colleagues and is happy and probably playing the fiddle or playing cards or tending the sick up in Heaven.
Thank you Dr. Leahy for all the good you did in your life. You will be missed and remembered with love.
Sincerely,
Patty Bogdanski ( King).

I had the privilege of working with Phil as a medical student from 1976-1978. And then on July 1, 1980 I had the great honour of taking over his practice in Teeswater. On behalf of the Teeswater Community and Wingham and District Hospital I would like to say thank you for his many years of tireless service. We enjoyed his expertise and his wit.
More recently our medical community was thrilled to welcome his grandson Dr Kieffer as a general surgeon. A great legacy.
