Obituary of Frances Schipper

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Frances Schipper on the evening of Friday, June 24. Frances was 80 years old and died after a long and courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Frances is survived and will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Adrian Schipper, daughter Adrienne Meinzinger, son Dirk Schipper and his wife Jennifer Schipper, and her 2 granddaughters Alexandra and Erin Meinzinger.

Predeceased by brothers Tony and Vito, she will be dearly missed by her siblings John, Phyllis and Cathy, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Born in the small town of Cenadi, in the province of Calabria, Italy, Frances was a firecracker who brought much joy to her family and friends. She loved having long conversations and was always happy to talk to everyone. She and her family emigrated to Canada in March of 1953 and settled in Toronto, Ontario.

Frances was an avid golfer and made many friends on the golf course at her home in Baden, ON and, in the winter months, at her second home in Naples. FLA. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and was active in many of their functions over the years, and volunteered for many causes she believed in.

Special thanks to the Hospice of Waterloo Region for making her final days special. Also, thank you to the many Doctors, Nurses, PSW’s and staff at the Westhill Retirement Residence who helped to give us more time with Frances.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, June 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with parish prayers at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agatha RC Church, 1839 Notre Dame Dr., St. Agatha on Wednesday, June 29 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Mariusz Durbajlo as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Agatha RC Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.

Condolences for the family and donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, and Hospice of Waterloo Region, may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
