Obituary of Roy Martin Poproski

Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Friday July 15, 2022, at the age of 79.

Beloved husband of the late Enid (nee Bennett) Poproski (2019). Loving and cherished father of Ian Poproski (Krista Feltmate) and their children Dominic and Ashlynne, Elaine Poproski, Jane Poproski (Steve Gayowsky) and their daughter Natalia, and Ruth Poproski.

Roy was born in Vancouver. He was the youngest child of Evangelina and George and brother to Audrey and Grace. He moved to Waterloo, Ontario in his early adulthood, where he began working for the Mutual Life Assurance Company. Roy was involved at the ground floor of incorporating computers, the internet, and email into the day-to-day life of the company and its people.

In 1967, Roy met Enid and was immediately smitten. On August 1 of 1968, they were married and remained married for 50+ years. Throughout his life, Roy was an active member of Glen Acres Baptist Church, where he served for many years as the Treasurer and in various other roles, including in the church’s children’s ministry. Roy was also actively involved at Hermosa Baptist Camp, most notably for 18 years with Single Parent Families. He enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, and reading. He was a storyteller and always felt personally responsible for making everyone else feel welcome. He is missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Roy during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Glen Acres Baptist Church, 223 Hartwood Ave, Kitchener on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11 a.m, with Pastor Bill Horne officiating.  A reception will follow the service immediately in the church hall. Cremation will have taken place.
