With profound sadness our family announces the peaceful passing at home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 of our dear Ollie ending her courageous 27-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born the only daughter of a farm family in Smoky Lake, Alberta, Ollie moved to Edmonton at age 17 to attend business school. She clerked for the RCMP and the Alberta provincial court prior to her marriage to Owen in 1965.
In 1967 the couple relocated to Kitchener where Ollie created a warm and loving family home. She was an awesome mother and an engaging hostess to countless friends and acquaintances. Her decorating genius, culinary delights and the gentle care she took with her beautiful gardens was amazing! She was unfailingly generous and kind to others and made many lasting friendships.
Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1995, Ollie continued her positive outlook on life, neither complaining nor withdrawing from her day-to-day routine. Her bright smile, persistence and cheerful disposition was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Until her disease reached its later stages, she pursued her passions for curling, bowling, dancing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. She was a long-time member of Westmount Golf and Country Club, a past member of the Garden Club of Kitchener-Waterloo and the Women’s Probus Club of Kitchener-Conestoga. In retirement Ollie and Owen travelled with friends to many countries.
Survived by her loving husband and best friend of 57 years, Owen; son Carl of Texas, and daughter Peggy McKillop of PEI.
Predeceased by her parents Sandra and Paul Ceilin; brothers Alex, Mike and Walter, and son-in-law Robert McKillop.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ollie’s life will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm. A livestream and recording of Ollie’s celebration will be available on her tribute page at www.erbgood.com
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dan Brewster who provided such kind and compassionate care to Ollie during the past few years.
