Obituary of Earl George Steffler
It is with most profound sadness that we announce the peaceful and sudden passing, surrounded by his wife and family at his side, at Grand River Hospital on August 28th, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Pauline (nee Buchanan) and his children Joanne Taylor (Tom), Chris VanKatwyk (Paul), Mark Steffler (Kim) and Ashley Steffler-McIntyre (Bryan). Grandfather to Todd Taylor (Jen), Jaime Cressman (Tom), Sasha Rogers-VanKatwyk (Suzie), Nicola Steffler, Allie Steffler, Tucker McIntyre and Callie McIntyre. Great grandfather to Nora and Zoey Cressman. He was the brother to Eva Voisin, Bill Steffler (Kathy) and Betty Grobe (Gary). Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Anne Steffler and brothers Lloyd Steffler (Kay), Leo Steffler (Lorraine), sister Thelma Moser (Elmer), and granddaughter Julia Steffler. Remembered by his in-laws Jesse Buchanan, Cheryl Cleland (Alan) and Lee-Ann Tucker.
Earl spent his early years working at Henderson Bakery, then moved over to Maple Lane Dairies. He then pivoted into selling insurance, which consumed most of his career, before becoming a financial adviser, owning Golden Triangle Insurance and Financial Services.
In his younger years, Earl was an avid Bowler and Horseshoe Player. He loved hockey and was very passionate about the Montreal Canadiens and despite often yelling at the TV, he simply couldn’t change the outcome of the games. He also loved to golf and was a Marshall for years at Grey Silo Golf Club, in Waterloo.
Earl loved to spend time with his family, especially at Christmas which was his favourite time of year. He looked forward to everyone coming home and catching up on all the news.
Earl and Pauline loved to travel and enjoyed getting together with friends and family, enjoying the occasional Kümmel Schnapps. His infectious laugh will be missed!
