Obituary of Rita Florence Hergott

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Rita Florence Hergott (nee Reitzel) passed away peacefully at her home at Lanark Heights Long Term Care, at the age of 88.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald Hergott (1997).  Loving mother of Dennis (deceased) (Peggy Morrison), Charlene Brewer (Jim), David (Kim) and Michael. Grandmother of Chris and Tyler Hergott, Jeff Brewer, Andrew Brewer (Jenny), Courtney Iden (Nick), Rebecca Hergott and Dan Hergott (Stephanie). Predeceased by Laura Brewer. Great-grandmother of Mason, Victoria, Chloe, Hannah, Sabrina, Madelyn, Claire, William, Elizabeth and Joseph. Sister of Sister Rosalie, Irene Kuntz, Lucy Diebold, Walter Reitzel, Dorothy Spitzig and Margaret Hudson.

Predeceased by her parents Joachim and Bertha Reitzel and her siblings Sister Victoria, Marie, Leone, Ann, Joe, Helen, Tereasa, Alice, Francis and Agnes.

Rita was a devoted childcare provider, foster mother and Avon representative for 46 years.

Rita lived with mixed dementia and as the disease progressed and her capabilities diminished, she remained the calm, gentle, loving and caring person that she always was.

The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers and support teams that gave her love and dignity during her long journey.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
